Jenny hesitated at the front door, her favourite red scarf wrapped around her neck to keep the cold at bay. She dreaded entering. Perhaps she should turn around and go because no-one would care if she was there or not. Maybe that was a bit harsh. She was the one who didn’t want to be here, not without Lucas. He could be blind and it was all her fault. One misstep and she knocked him flying to hit his head hard on the unforgiving footpath. She shouldn’t be here.

Suddenly it was too late as the front door opened. A hand grabbed and she was dragged into the main living room. Hot cider was placed in her hand. Stunned she looked around at the joy expressed and happy chatter of her friends and family. Then she saw him, standing so tall, dark, and handsome. He turned slowly around and gave her his familiar slow sexy smile, dark brown eyes sparkling. The cup of hot cider slipped from her fingers as he closed the distance. Stopping in front of her, he glanced up. Her eyes rose to the hanging mistletoe above their heads, only to look back at the man that she loved and closed her eyes as his dark head lowered and his sensual lips pressed to hers. This was going to be the best Christmas ever.

“I thought I was supposed to sweep you off your feet Jenny-wren.” She felt his smile against her lips.

            “Next time,” she promised.
