New Year, New You

It was the last day of this year the and the party was happening tonight. Neither Matt or I were ready for this party but we were stuck with going last minute shopping for stuff we forget. Mom asked Matt to do it first because he can drive. It took a while for him to agree but he did, mom gave him this scroll of a list. He whined about why can't it be like an email or something, Mom rolled her eyes and went back to cleaning. She didn't have any time to write it into an email anyway.

I was up in my room playing some Dark Souls III with my friends then Matt ripped off my headphones. I slapped him, "What the hell was that for?". He put the headphones around his neck, "For your attention, now you have to come with me". I raised my eyebrow, "Where to?". Matt scrunched up his hands trying to make the place we are going more exciting, "The supermarket" he ends with a splash of jazz hands at the end.

I groaned so hard that I fell backward, my head smashed against the ground. "Ow, shit" I quickly pull my head up rubbing it like crazy. Matt looks over to me, "Are you okay?".  I try to brush off the pain and get back to the point, "Yeah...Yeah, don't worry but do I have to go?" I beg. I see Matt pull some sort of scroll out of his pocket. It unravels all the way down to his knees, that's never a good sign.

Matt clasps his hands together, "I'm calling all Pidges, Matt Holt needs your help with this shopping list. Only with your help, Matt can defeat this shopping list and become victorious". I cross my arms and nod my head, "How long have you been planning that?" Matt brings his hand to his chin, "Hmm, since I walked into this room". I start to nod more frequently, "I like your methods, so I will join you on your little excursion to the store of food". Matt fist pumps to himself, "I knew that would win you over".

Matt makes his way out of the room so I could change into some clothes more appropriate for the outside world. I grab a pair of some ripped jeans I have and slowly put them on. Then I hear a knocking at my door. I yell, "What do ya want?". I hear Matt's voice on the other side, "Oh nothing its just that we are leaving in 5 minutes and counting". "WHAT" I responded with frantically trying to pull my jeans and struggling.

Rummaging through my closet trying to pick a shirt and knocking all my other shirts in the process. "Shit" I pick up the shirt I want from the piling of shirts and clothes hangers on the floor. I give a good look at the pile contemplating whether or not I should leave it like that or not. I came to the decision with the small amount of time that I had I would procrastinate and do it later. I grabbed over my green lion hoodie with accents of white, black, and yellow to make the lion look more mechanical looking.

I hoped down the stairs pulling the hoodie over my head. By the last step, the hoodie is over my head. This was my first time downstairs all morning, mom looks like a mad woman trying to clean like there is no tomorrow and dad is right behind her. His expression made him look very scared and tired at the same time. A new emotion that my mother could only enforce and I didn't want to experience that on my own.

I stood in pure shock at the house, it was the cleanest I have ever seen it. The dark oak floors twinkled with the pure sunlight passing through the windows. The green couch cushions were put in place and had a smooth matte finish to them. The coffee table in the middle seemed brand spanking new, it was incredible the work they did. Dad looked at me funny, "Katie get going with Matt before he leaves you in the dust". I slapped myself back into reality and ran out the door, "Thanks dad".

I jumped into the car and we were on our way to Altea, the local supermarket. Matt played his very own, handmade CD that had both of our favorite tunes on it because we are always in the car together for some reason. We jammed out to a mix of PATD, AJR, and some random artists we both found off of Spotify and Youtube. The car ride was short but sweet due to the tunes of the car, but the parking lot had a lot more cars than we both expected, this is going to be a rough time.
