Brielle
BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.
"Nooooo..." My groan echoed, half-hearted and disappointed. I rolled over, fingers grazing an untouched side of the bed. Hera had already left. Reaching for my phone, I saw her message, and a warm smile softened my face.
I'm off to work. Didn't wake you 'cause you were sleeping so peacefully. I love you. Go nail that interview! Baked rice cakes and Americano in the flask for you. Take care.
I whispered, "I love you too, baby." Her thoughtfulness filled me with a calm strength as I prepared for the day, focusing on the interview that could change my career.
After dressing in a cream pencil skirt and a turquoise blouse, I checked my reflection, feeling a little surge of confidence as I adjusted my bun. I hoped my outer calmness could mask the nervousness buzzing inside. I was ready to make this day count.
"Welcome to LMPT Enterprise; how can I help you?" A slim brunette at the front desk greeted me warmly.
"Good morning! Brielle Damara, here for—" I began, only to be interrupted.
"Miss Damara, this way, please," a blonde called out, guiding me toward a heavy brown door.
Taking a deep breath, I entered. The office was vast, its shades of grey and cream mixed with dark furniture exuding power. My eyes landed on a figure seated at the desk, his back turned to me. I cleared my throat, but he didn't respond. His chair bore a nameplate: Liam Jean Pierre, CEO.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm Brielle Damara. I'm here for the interview..."
Finally, he spun around, and my breath caught. His golden eyes shimmered like precious metal, set against tanned skin and framed by thick black hair. Beneath his left eye was a faint beauty mark that somehow amplified his intensity. I stumbled, mentally cursing myself as I tried to hold his gaze.
"You're hired," he said, his voice a warm, husky timbre.
I blinked in surprise. "Hired?" I hadn't even finished my introduction.
"Yes," he confirmed, his mouth lifting in a smirk that was both intriguing and infuriating. He stood, towering over me with a strong, lean frame. "I need a new assistant. My last one couldn't keep up."
I hesitated, feeling a mix of thrill and trepidation. "Thank you, Mr. Jean Pierre. I'll do my best."
"Just call me Liam," he corrected with an unexpected softness, then gestured for me to follow.
I was taken by his tall, broad, 6ft 2 frame. He wore a well-tailored black and grey suit with black business shoes. All seem to hint at one muscular and defined body hidden below his clothing. He cleared his throat, making me come back to my original decent girl senses.
"I'm Liam Jean Pierre, the CEO, " he brought out his hand for a handshake, I willingly gave him my hands, but he won't stop his graze from leaving my eyes and glancing at my curves, but I smugly let go of our entwined hands.
"Well, actually, your work is being my assistant; I fired mine just yesterday because she didn't get my schedules right, " he smirks.
"of...of course, Mr. Jean Pierre," I mumbled.
"Please follow me, Miss Damare," he shuffled out from his desk as he gestured me to follow him.
"It's Damara, Sir. " I corrected, but he didn't even answer me.
He's a dick; I thought he was excellent. Dammit.
"I have a meeting, which starts; now, I'll want you to rearrange my schedules and bring table water to the boardroom, plus you look fabulously beautiful," he added.
