Twilight (Quil and Claire)

Chapter 5

~Quil's POV~

I didn't recognize the scent of the vampire.

I glanced over at Sam and Paul who looked as concerned as I did.

They phased and howled for the rest to come.

They got here in less than thrity seconds. "What happened?" thought Jared. "New vampire scent". Paul answered.

Nobody recognized the scent either.

We headed to the Cullen's but were sure not to get in their territory. We howled until Edward came out.

Sam and Jared phased into humans so they could communicate with the leeches better.

"What is it?" asked Edward, worried since we never came to them. "New vampire scent. Or at least new to us. It leads out of our territory north", said Sam.

Emmett and Jasper came outside with Alice and the blonde vampire. "Emmett, go north of La Push and follow the scent", ordered Edward.

Emmett left with Jasper. "Thanks for telling us", Edward said.

Sam nodded.

After a few minutes, Emmett and Jasper returned. "It's the same scent that was in Bella's room", Emmett said aloud.

Edward and Jacob growled. "We need to find him and kill him now." Jacob thought. "No", Edward answered him, reading his mind.

Jacob huffed.

"Where was the scent headed?" asked Alice. "It went into Canada." responded Emmett.

"I guess we won't know for sure. We need to take watch at Bella's house", Edward told us. Embry and I huffed.

"We'll take shifts. Wolves take A.M. and you guys take P.M.", suggested Sam. "Sounds good" Edward replied.

The pack left and headed back towards Emily's. We all phased back into humans.

"We'll go in pairs." Sam started. "Jared with Paul. Jacob with Leah. Quil with Seth. And Embry with me. Any questions?"

"Yeah, can I switch partners?" asked Jacob. Leah rolled her eyes. Everyone snickered.

Seth wasn't the best partner, but at least I didn't have Leah. "Enough Jake!" ordered Sam.

Jake sighed. "Jared and Paul will watch Bella's house from 12am to 3am. Quil and Seth will watch her house from 3am to 6am." "Great". I thought.

"Jacob and Leah will watch her house from 6am to 9am. And Embry and I will watch her house from 9am to 12pm."

I really didn't want to watch Bella's house. It wasn't fair.

Jared, Sam and I have imprinted. We want to see our imprintees.

And I don't want to be awake at 3-6. Hopefully this will be over soon.

I went straight home since I had to get up early. I had a shower and went to bed.

~Claire's POV~

Qwil left me. I did not want him to go. I sat next to Emily.

I wed my book to Emily.

"The caw was wed." I said.

I couldn't say my 'r'. I am owny 2 yeaws old.

I wanted Qwil. He could help me.

~Emily's POV~

Sierra called me telling me she wouldn't be getting home until late so Claire and Taylor would stay at my house.

I could tell Claire missed Quil. It made me sad.

I tucked Taylor and Claire into bed and kissed them goodnight.

I walked back to the kitchen and saw Sam standing there.

"Is everything okay?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "We found a new vampire scent just outside. We talked to the Cullens and they don't recognize it." he explained.

I nodded.

"We are gonna take watches at Bella's house along with the Cullens."

"When?" I asked.

"I take watch at 9-12", he said.

"Wow. So is this what's happening in Seattle? All those deaths?" I asked worried.

"Carlisle seems to think so."

I sighed. I really didn't want Sam out there with some unknown vampires. What if he got hurt?

Sam could see my emotions spread on my face. He came over to me and wrapped his arms around me.

"It's gonna be okay.....I promise," he told me running my back.

I buried my head in the crook of his neck.

He picked me up and carried me to our bedroom. He placed me gently on the bed and sat next to me.

I kissed him sweetly on the cheek.

"Please be careful," I asked of him.

"Of course," he responded.

We laid down and fell asleep in each other's arms.
