"Listen if you have ears".
These lines were one of the frequent lines I read in the Bible.
What does it really mean? Do we have to take it literally? To listen using our ears? Or do we have to internalized its deeper meaning?
As what I've learned in nursing school, active listening is one of the therapeutic communication used.
Sometimes, we are just busy expressing our emotions, busy talking and complaining.
But have you ever thought if all of us will just talk, talk and talk? Imagine the world, being talkative and no one is listening. Isn't it chaotic and a real mess?
That's because we barely forgot to listen.
Take time to keep quiet and allow others to share something, just listen. As much as possible, don't give advices. Your presence and your ears, partnered by your heart and mind are a very powerful weapon in alleviating ones suffering.
They will thank you not for what you've said but for your mere presence and understanding.
Listening is not just by the use of ears, but it is anchored together with your heart and mind. :)
