Brooke's Point of View

"Thank you so much for helping me move in, Sarah," I smile as I drop a huge box on the tile floor of my dorm room. Sarah's mom works for a major airline, so Sarah was able to fly out to Connecticut for free to help me. Her family is the best.

"Of course, girl!" She says, walking over to the small window. "Hey," she starts, leaning into the glass, "there's some pretty hot freshmen here."

"Sarah!" I squeal, shaking my head. "You don't even go here!"

She puts her hands up in defense. "I know, I know! I'm just pointing it out...," she says, voicing trailing off as she gazes back out the window.

"Sarah, can you come help me unload the other boxes?" I ask as I open the large wooden door. She doesn't respond. I turn back around to see her still staring out the window at the men below. Frustration taking over, I stomp over to Sarah and punch her shoulder.

"Shit, Brooke! What was that for?"

"I asked you to help me and you're too busy staring out the goddamn window!" I say, voice raised.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I just can't help it," she laughs. "Let's go."

As we walk out of my dorm building onto the sidewalk, Sarah turns to me.

"Hey, I know you said you didn't wanna talk about it, but what's going on with you and your parents?" She asks hesitantly.

"We're not speaking," I tell her. "They don't support my and Niall's relationship. Niall's paying for my college education since my parents refused to do so because I wouldn't obey their ridiculous demands," I tell her, rolling my eyes. "And I didn't see them when I went home to pack my things...I made sure to pack while they were at work. They haven't texted me or called me at all since my father showed up at Niall's apartment."

Sarah stretches her arm out in front of me, stopping us on the sidewalk. "You didn't tell me that!" She shrieks.

"I know," I sigh. "I've just had so much going on right now; like I said, I didn't really wanna talk about it," I murmur as we begin walking again.

"Well I'm glad you told me," she says, looking down at the ground. "You can't keep all of this bottled up." I nod in agreement. "You probably don't want to discuss this either, but how did yesterday go?"

My heart drops into my stomach.

"It was beautiful," I whisper, throat suddenly becoming dry. "He brought me back to the stadium and--"

"What?" She shrieks. "Details, please!"

"Okay, okay. So, like I said, he took me back to the stadium. He changed into a tuxedo and made a trail of red roses that led to the stage. As we walked hand in hand to the stage, I noticed a large paper heart on one of the seats...it was my seat from the concert." Sarah clasps her hands over her heart dramatically, earning a giggle from me. "Then he played 'Little Things' over the speakers, except at the end of the song, a guitarist came out on stage and Niall sang to me. And...he changed the words to I'm in love with you, and all our little things. Then--"

"You're so lucky!" She yells, earning stares from other freshmen and their families carrying boxes into buildings.

"Shut the fuck up!" I whisper, smacking Sarah on the arm. "There's more to it." She nods, signaling for me to continue. "So, like I was saying, then he sang 'The Scientist' by Coldplay, which was perfect. After that, he told me he--" I start getting choked up. "He told me that he loves me."
