I had my mother for 28 years
that is not enough time
She taught me to crawl
and she taught me to walk
she taught me to laugh
and she taught me to talk
She bought me a bike
and she taught me to ride
she taught me to face my fears
and never to hide
She taught me to read
and she taught me to write
in life's little things
she taught me to delight
When I grew old enough
she taught me to drive
She taught me to count on her
for as long as she's alive
When problems arose
that I did not understand
she taught me to be
A good and strong man
She taught me to learn
something new everyday
she taught me the value
of work and of play
She taught me to explore
to discover, to create
she taught me when to rush
and when to wait
When my son was born
she taught me to be a dad
she taught me to stay steady
in good times and in bad
When I was lost and
could not find my way
she taught me to kneel
and she taught me to pray
She taught me so many lessons
I can never repay
I don't know why the lord
had to take her away
I had my mother for 28 years
God, that is not enough time
A/N..........No need to get all teary eyed. My mom isn't dead. This came about when my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was at the hospital to have it shrunk by a thing called a gamma knife. I started thinking about what if it didn't work and you know, the worst happened. So I ended up writing this.
