"Alright mum, I'm ready, lets go" I called from the bottom of the stairs, grabbing my coat and bag with everything I needed inside.
My mum came down the stairs grabbing her car keys and we headed out.
I was babysitting Brooke again today, I had looked after her around 5 times already, only for a few hours each day whilst her mum would be at work and her older brother was out. I had never met any of the other family members except Brooke and Karen, I knew she had a brother, but apart from that I didn't know who else was in the family. Today was the first time I was staying over, I was extremely nervous incase I met someone without Karen there to introduce us properly.
My mum could tell I was scared so she kept reminding me that I will be fine. My mum and Karen were old friends and when Karen desperately needed a babysitter she asked my mum if she knew anyone, she asked me, and obviously I agreed because I loved looking after children and it was something that I wanted to do as a career.
I had online school so I looked after Brooke twice when she was off school ill and once when her school was on strike, the rest were a couple hours after school when her mum was going to be working late and her brother had something else to do.
We pulled up outside the house and I pushed all negative things out of my mind and kissed my mums cheek, we said our goodbyes, and she wished me luck before driving away.
I took a deep breath and walked up the path, before I even got to the door, it had opened. Karen appeared at it before disappearing with the door still open.
I walked in and was welcomed by Brooke running up to me and hugging me, since she was sort of small, not very small, but a little, she could only reach to just above my waist. I bent down and hugged her properly before she ran off, I followed her into the living room.
"Hi sweetie, okay so I would give you a bedtime for Brooke but lately she would just refuse so your best chance is to put a film on and let her fall asleep. I will be back around 12 tomorrow but Charlie should be back around- well I don't actually know, his friend Leo is sleeping tonight but they're both lovely boys so you shouldn't have a problem. There is food and things in the fridge and cupboard, please be careful if you use anything electrical, and if you go out I will leave keys on side over there, but make sure you're back inside by 7:30 please. I don't think there's much more to say, I will say goodbye to Brooke and then I will be gone, oh yes remember to call or text me if you need anything, even if its to find something, it won't be a problem" I quickly nodded taking in all the information and watched her walk over to Brooke who was sat on the couch.
They talked about her behaving for me and to be kind, which she always was but apparently it had to be said. Karen said goodnight to her, kissing her forehead and hugging her before saying goodbye to me and leaving.
I put my bag down beside the couch and sat next to Brooke who was watching some program pretty intensely.
"So Brooke, do you wanna do something?" I asked and she quickly nodded.
"Can we go to the park?" she asked and I nodded which she cheered at, it was cute. She put her shoes on and I tied them and I helped her put on her coat but she didn't need much help with that.
I left all my over night things in Brooke's room which I would move later but I needed my backpack empty for now.
We headed out and she held my hand when crossing the roads without me even having to tell her, infact she was more telling me than me telling her.
We spent around an hour at the park, mostly me pushing her on the swing as high as she wanted.
After we went to the nearest shop and I bought any sweets and things that we wanted and I stuffed them into my backpack.
