There are two kinds of people in this world: those who walk towards fate and those who run away. An old friend used to say this to me after any major event was put into motion. Despite my friend's wisdom, I used to question this logic. What about those who walked away from fate, or those who ran towards it? I now see that fate is an escalator, one of those strange devices used long ago. Those who walk away from fate end up being pulled toward it due to their lack of effort, while those who run towards it fall and just get dragged along anyways, at the same pace as everyone else. However, even people running away eventually run out of fuel. Eventually, we all end up where fate wants us to be. They say things are etched in platinum, but platinum can always be melted and reforged. They say things are for time and all eternity, but if you can manipulate time, does time truly exist? They say that home is where your heart belongs, but what if you have no home? When you fall through a black hole and end up so far away you can't even see the stars, can't make it back to what you used to know, are you still truly living? It is now, falling through the outskirts, I come to realize that there is a third group. There are those who get to the top of their journey, and then jump. Away from the deep blue of the sea, away from the blood red of corruption, away from the emerald green of life. Away from the yellow of the sun, away from the gray of a loving man's heart, away from the star shining on the wall.
And away from the blackness of fate.Pardon me, I just realized that you probably don't know who I am. That's a new experience for me, I'm used to people recognizing me. I'm Laxia, the sorry excuse for a princess planet Earth had. I was the reigning monarch, but I was called princess simply because I have a living father. He wasn't the king during my rule, but if you have a living older relative you're called prince or princess. Although I wish I didn't have a living relative, the way he acts. I guess that's just how it works. I live in the "Galactic Era" or so they're calling it. The time when those super old movies us humans used to make have plot lines that could feasibly happen in this time and era. Earth is probably the most boring planet in the universe. The other planets have heroes, millennia of space experience, and cool physical traits as well. Once we finally figured out to travel through space effectively we realized the reason none of our efforts had proved successful. The other beings of the universe realized that humans were the least capable beings in the galaxy by far. It's like being left out of a thought group, which is a link you have to certain people so you can just think about talking to them and then actually talk to them. Most of the time you're left out of a thought group because the people involved hope you'll take a hint. You're not wanted. Well, if we aren't wanted anyway, I decided I might as well change who we were.
I was born into an "earth" family as far as everyone else knows, so I don't have wings, tentacles, or anything fancy like that. But my mom was actually from the Grandual planet, in the Timewarp galaxy. It is speculated that my dad is from Denon, the death magic planet, but no one knows for certain. It is also speculated I have lineage from every planet except Emryla, if you go back far enough. However, Denon, Grandual, and Emryla are the three planets in the universe where the people could pass for human. Allowing me to pass for one. Only humans can become royalty on earth, but no one knows my true lineage. They thought my mom was human. And the peculiar circumstances in which I became princess required less of a background than normal. Indeed, the people of Grandual look human, but have crazy intelligence. The Denon people have death magic, a magic that can kill someone else beyond revival magic's abilities to save. Grandualians have favor with the Gods of the Realm, which aren't actually gods. They're all the most powerful people in the universe that are "infused" with powers associated with gods. Their extensive lineage causes them to inherit power from more than one planet, causing them to hold an extensive amount of power. There's Faylin "Goddess" of Fate, Guyklin "God" of Creation, Lydiant "Goddess" of Love, and Jin "God" of War. There's also some minor Gods, like Iralia "Goddess" of Intelligence, Kronar "God" of Light and basically any other thing you can think of that would need a god. There used to be a "Goddess" of Destruction named Nova, but she disappeared a while back, and no one knows her whereabouts. The powers the Gods of the Realm had were inherited from birth because of combined powers from different planets they had ancestry from, but because of their power they were appointed to a station among the Gods. The Goddess of Fate could predict a future and cause that to solidify, becoming reality, in a vague sense. The God of Creation could create something completely new, only living things of course, however the consequences couldn't be predicted. The Goddess of Love made sure that loved was only found between those who deserve it, but love finds a way no matter the force driving it. And finally, the God of War was in charge of intergalactic peace, and oversaw war games certain planets would "play" with each other . I guess I should explain that as well. In this galaxy us humans somehow fit into, war is just a mindless game. In a world where people have the power to resurrect the dead and rebuild what was destroyed, war is just like a virtual reality brawl. You can "respawn" and everything goes back to normal, so we have a thing called the war games. Entire planets get destroyed and millions killed, but everything is fixed the next day. It's actually a very efficient system, in that after the war games when they've "released their inner rage" they'll resort to diplomacy. Which is great, except for the fact that Earth never wins the war games. Ever. We get completely demolished, and the next day everything's back to normal, but we get challenged to war games so frequently that one day everything is normal, the next day ever dies, and the next everything is rebuilt. This happens at least once a week, maybe more.
I lived on the streets most of my life, until an unexpected chain of events put me in charge. I knew only two people growing up on the streets, Kina and Zack. There were others, of course, but I never needed to really get to know them. I had all I ever wanted with just those two. l've known Zack for a long time, and even though we've shared plenty of special moments, I'm still not entirely sure what the situation between us is. Kina was one of my best friends in the world before a falling out split us apart. There's also my father, who I knew and loved before going out into the streets, but one day his opinion suddenly changed. A few days after mother died in the shuttle crash he started looking at me like I was just her disappointing legacy.
Despite my lowly birth and my interesting past, I ended up as princess of earth. I only wound up on the streets after I was forced to leave my old life behind, and I thought that the streets were just my lot in life. Then I became princess, and as great as being princess was, it didn't last long. Then I was back on the streets. This is the story of how I wanted to change my story. Change it for the better, I thought. But for every good deed there must be a bad one, and my only hope is that this record is not lost in this endless space I now occupy. Beyond the universe, life, and fate. If it is, no one will care enough to tell my story, rather Hinlo will make sure no one cares enough.
