I sat in the dressing room for a little while, embarrassed to walk back outside. I was suddenly getting the disgusted feeling of strippers I always had. Except I was disgusted by myself. And I hated that August saw me, dancing up there, shaking my ass for these thirsty ass men.

Since I was the only one in the room, I buried my head in my hands and cried. I felt worse than I had yesterday. I felt lower than dirt. After about 10 minutes of crying, I got myself together and walked out to work the bar for the rest of my shift.

I put on the club's crop top and shorts and trotted behind the bar, pouring shots for people. I even poured myself one just for the hell of it. I sat at the bar, watching Evette do her thing on stage, popping a split and sticking her tongue out at me. I smiled a little. She was such a show off.

After she was done, she disappeared to the back to give some guy a private lap dance and Reggie walked up to me, taking a seat at the bar stool.

"Kay, hook me and my Youngin up with that Hennessy," He said. I looked around in confusion, only seeing him around. Thats when August walked up, dapping Reggie. My heart started racing as I looked down at the bottle of Hennessy I was pouring.

"Uncle Reg, thanks fa the love. Man, I appreciate it, forreal," August said in the same New Orleans accent I could never forget.

"Its nothing, youngin, you know how fam do. But aye let me introduce to the mami that was spicing up ya songs on stage," Reggie turned to me and August stared me in my face, becoming serious. I avoided eye contact.

"This is-"

"Kalissa," August finished Reggie's sentence, never breaking eye contact with me.

"Uh, yeah and Kay this is-"

"August," I said, finishing up his sentence this time. He looked at me then August as we shared a silent but intense stare.

"So you two know each other?" Reggie asked.

"Somethin' like that," August mumbled, looking down at the floor and fixing his Snapback.

"Oh cool, y'all could catch up while I go take the DJ booth again before Kenny fuck up my shit," Reggie said, taking his drink and walking off.

I looked down at my nails as I felt August's eyes on me. The awkward silence was killing me. I sighed, finally looking up at him.

"Hey...August," I said, with my voice cracking.

"How you been?" He asked, taking a seat at the stool.

"I'm good."

He looked down at my clothes and then raised an eyebrow. "What happened, Kay?"

"What do you what happened?" I asked, folding my arms.

"This," He pointed to me and the club. "Don't act like you ain't know what I mean."

I rolled my eyes. "A lot happened, August. Since you left me that is."

He sighed, taking off his Snapback and running a hand over his hair. "Look-"

"OH MY GOD!!" Evette yelled, walking up to us. "Please tell me that this isn't a fucking joke! August Alsina?"

He smirked, turning toward her. "Wassup, shawty?"

"I am a big fan," She smiled. "Your songs...oh my god, I love all them shits."

He laughed. "Thats love. I appreciate it, shawty."

"Mhmmm," She said, eyeing him up and down. "If I didn't have a boyfriend, I'd be riding you like a pornstar."

I rolled my eyes, walking away to fill some other orders. I was thinking about pouring Evette some water since her ass was hella thirsty. By the time I was done, I took a seat on the stool behind the bar, looking at my phone.
