"This might be too much," I twirled in the mirror as I pulled down the cute floral off the shoulder bodycon dress that Kara had picked out for me at some store in the mall. It was really cute, but it was a little too tight to say that we were only going to the movies. I wasn't use to this shit. The shortest and tightest thing that I had ever worn was the outfit I wore the night I went to the party with Kara.
"You look cute though, look at that ass," Kara smacked me on the ass and I blushed.
Turning, I looked at my butt and I didn't know if it was the dress or what, but it was banging.
"Kara, I thank you for this," I told her, and she waved me off.
"Girl, it's nothing. But let's head out before these men think we stood them up," She grabbed her purse and keys and headed out of her room. Grabbing up my purse, I followed right behind Kara.
We were both now in her car and I couldn't believe I let her talk me into going with her.
"Kara, what friend is he bringing?" I questioned her.
"I don't even know. He just said he had a friend," She giggled.
"This could be a damn set-up. What if he's ugly?" I palmed my face.
"Then just take one for the team bitch," She shrugged.
Kara had me fucked up. I wasn't taking anything for the team, especially if the guy was ugly. I was going to smoothly walk out of there and go sit in the car until she was done with her lil' date or whatever.
Pulling up to the movie theatre, Kara parked her car. While sitting, she looked up in the rearview mirror, and adjusted her boobs so that they were spilling over the top of the yellow, one-piece catsuit, that she had paired with a blue jean jacket.
"You ready?" She looked over at me and I was as ready as I would ever be. This would be my first time on a date I guess. Even when I dated those two boys in high school, we never went on dates. I would basically see them at school and that was it. We would meet up in the hallway, hold hands, kiss and then go our separate ways. Shawn always wanted to try to take it to the next level and invite me over to his house, but I was never brave enough to go. One day, he tried to get me to sneak into the boy's locker room, but I knew better. After turning him down, he broke up with me, but I didn't even care. It was his loss, not mine. I wasn't about to go out like that. I wanted my first to be everything. I wanted it to be just like how the girls in the movies lost theirs. Cliché I know.
"I guess so," I answered.
Kara and I both got out the car at the same time and strutted up to the entrance of the movie theatre.
"We don't need to buy tickets," I questioned her as we walked in and stood in the middle of the lobby.
"No, they asses better buy them for us." She responded. She then began to text on her phone.
"Where are they?" I asked her.
"Aye yo. Kara." I heard somebody call out her name and we both turned around.
"There he goes but where is this friend he was talking about," I whispered over in her ear. Not that I cared. Hell, I was kind of jumping for joy on the inside.
"Oh, hey Gates," She waved as he walked over to where we were standing
Wrapping his arms around Kara, he nuzzled his head on the side of her neck and held her tightly as if they had been knowing each for forever. He also tried to let his hands roam a little further to her ass, but she stopped him.
"My bad but damn you fine and you smell good as fuck," Gates said to Kara and I giggled.
"Thank you, you don't look half bad yourself," Kara told him as she let her eyes roam his appearance. Hell, I did too. He was just her type. Light skin, pretty eyes, and skinny. She loved them, tall skinny niggas. He was cute. I had to admit. But he wasn't my type at all. He had swag. He was now wearing these ripped blue jean pants, a pair of white forces and a black and white shirt.
"Ya know, a nigga be trying," He stepped back and palmed his fist and licked his lips.
"I see ya. So where is this friend of yours?" Kara smacked her lips and snaked her head, giving him nothing but attitude.
"Shit, that nigga should be pulling up." Gates told her, and she looked back at me.
"See, he is coming," Kara said, putting me on blast.
"Really bitch," I nudged her and looked down at the floor. She didn't have to put me on blast and make it as if I cared.
"There that nigga is," Gates pointed towards the entrance of the building and I turned my head.
Shit, I said to myself as time seemed to stop. Lights began to flash, and it was like that nigga was walking down a runway. He had on the simplest thing, but he still looked fine as fuck. It was like no matter how much I tried to avoid him. He would pop up.
"Hey y'all, What's up." He smiled. Damn that smile.
While I was standing there mesmerized, Gates and Kara had spoken back to him and I hadn't said shit.
"Oh, I forgot she can't see or hear," He laughed as he waved his hand in front of my face.
"Wait, what did you say?" I snapped out of it and now I had an attitude.
"I said what's up. Damn, ma, you might need to go get yo ears and vision checked."
"Whatever," I crossed my arms and looked at him as if he wasn't the finest man I ever laid eyes on.
"Aye yo, Kara, this my nigga Thrill, and Thrill, this is Kara Hershey chocolate ass," Gates beamed as he introduced the two.
"Hey, Thrill, nice to meet you again." Kara shook his hand and smiled. She then looked over at me, "And this is my best friend July."
"July like the month?" He questioned and looked at me.
"Naw, July like the year. Yes, July like the month," I shot back at him.
"Oh, so you can hear, huh." He chuckled.
His laugh was damn near contagious. I almost wanted to laugh, but I had this facade going on as if I was really in a bad mood or if what he said aggravated me.
"Y'all ready to go see this movie," Gates asked as he flashed the four tickets that he had bought already for us.
"Yeah, what are we seeing?" Kara asked him as she walked closer to him and looked at the ticket.
"I figured we would catch a scary movie," Gates looked up at Kara and I wanted to laugh. This nigga didn't know it, but Kara didn't fuck around with scary movies. She was terrified. She hated them. But me, on the other hand, I loved them. I loved the thrill of them. Thrill... I thought to myself as I looked over at him and he was busy texting on his phone.
Clearing my throat, I loosened up and tried to come out of my shell for once. "You know it's rude to be texting on your phone while you're out on a date."
Looking up at me with a blank expression, he said, "And who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do on a date?"
Rude fucker, I thought to myself as I pondered on a clever comeback.
"Why did you come?" I simply said in a nasty tone.
"Because my nigga asked me to," He turned and looked at me giving me his undivided attention as he slid his phone into his pocket.
Looking for Kara to come in and maybe say something astute for me, I noticed she wasn't anywhere near me. Her and Gates were in line at the concession stand.
Damn it, maybe I should have kept my mouth closed.
"Well, you can leave if you don't want to be here." I looked him dead in the eyes as a smirk began to appear on his face.
Licking his lips, I felt a chill go down my spine as he began to talk, "Ha. I have no problem with bouncing up out of here. I can name a million other things I would rather be doing than babysitting."
"Babysitting?" I scoffed.
"In case you didn't know I am grown. Legal." I responded as I walked away. I was over the conversation we were having. He was an asshole and even though he was fine, I wasn't about to stand there and listen to nothing else his rude ass had to say.
"What movie theatre are we in," I walked up behind Kara and asked.
"Hold on, let me get the tickets from Gates," She replied as she looked at me over her shoulder.
"Gates, where is the tickets? So, I can give July hers." She asked him, and he dug into his pocket and pulled them out.
"Here you go, boo. Everything ok?" She asked me, and I wanted to tell her that I was ready to go but I didn't want to ruin her date.
"Everything good. I'll see you in the theatre."
"You sure? You want anything from the concession stand?" She asked me, and I shook my head no.
Walking over, I looked down at my ticket, walked up to the Usher at the podium and handed him the ticket.
"Theatre 6 on the right. Enjoy." The blonde hair, blue eyed usher smiled at me and I smiled back at him.
Walking into the theatre I looked at my ticket and noticed that we had assigned seats. The chairs weren't the normal chairs you usually see inside of a movie theatre but instead, they were recliners. As I walked up the stairs, I searched for row F then tried to find seat 16. Once I sat down, I got on my phone and tried to call my mother again but of course, she didn't answer, so I put my phone on silent and watched as people began to pile up in the theatre like ants.
Finally, the previews began to start. I looked down the stairway and in walked Gates, Kara, and Thrill. With Kara coming to sit on the right side of me, leaving Thrill to sit on the left side. They each had a whole bunch of snacks and my stubborn ass was sitting here empty-handed but it was ok. I was good. I didn't have any money anyways.
"I got this for you," Thrill handed me a small bag of popcorn with a Coke and cherry Icee mixed. I figured Kara had to tell him what I liked.
"Thank you, I guess," I said dryly and began to snack on the popcorn and sip on my drink.
"You know this is scary?" I whispered to Kara.
"I know. I plan on having my eyes closed the whole time," she snickered lowly.
"You're crazy," I giggled as the lights went completely off. I got comfortable in the chair and glued my eyes to the screen. As the movie began to play it was like Thrill was purposely smacking and sucking hard on his damn drink in order to get on my nerves.
"Can you be quiet over there," I asked and all he did was straight up ignore me and smack even louder.
Thrill was starting to be annoying. To say that he tossed around the fact that I was young, he sure as hell didn't act like he was older than me. I felt like he was being childish. The on and off again asshole trait, wasn't making me attracted to him. I didn't know how much more I was going to take from him before I walked straight up out of the movie and went to sit in the lobby until Kara was ready to go.
"Shit," Kara screamed as she ducked her head and buried herself into Gates. Watching his face light up, I then realized he knew exactly what he was doing when he chose a scary movie.
Just like a nigga, I chuckled. I wasn't scared, I loved the gruesome, bloody, horror stuff that was popping out left and right.
"You like this type of shit, don't you," Thrill leaned in and whispered in my ear. The heat from his breath tickled my ear causing me to close my eyes and take a deep breath. Damn, was what I wanted to moan out, but I didn't. Was he trying to have my ass over there in that seat with him?
"Shhh," I told him as I opened my eyes back up, crossed my legs and tried my hardest to pay attention to the movie instead of the thoughts that were going through my head.
"I can tell you do. I might need to stop picking with yo crazy ass." He chuckled, and I looked over at him. He had tossed popcorn in his mouth and shrugged his shoulders. He was something else. It was like he was cocky, annoying, rude and even found a way to show a little sweet side but what sealed the deal was how fine he was. The way he chewed on that damn popcorn was even sexy as hell.
"I'm not crazy," I told him. I didn't know liking a scary movie was considered being crazy. It was just that stuff like this didn't scare me because I knew deep down the shit was fake.
"Ha, sure you're not," Thrill teased and before I could even reply back, a man that was sitting in front of us turned and looked directly at me and shushed us.
Chuckling loudly, I looked over at Thrill as he began to throw pieces of popcorn at the back of the man's head. My eyes were damn out of my head because he had to be crazy. He just didn't care. Never have I ever witnessed anything like this. I damn near wanted to get out of my seat and leave because I knew things were about to get crazy.
"Thrill stop," I said in a low tone.
"Naw. Fuck him. He lucky I won't set this bitch off." Thrill said loudly causing the man to look back but when his eyes trained in on who Thrill was he began to apologize.
"Aye Thrill. My bad." I didn't even realize it was you. The dude had really apologized to Thrill like he had did something wrong. I was baffled.
"Yeah aite," Thrill said nonchalantly as he threw more popcorn in his mouth and focused on the movie like he just wasn't about to cause a fight up in here.
"Girl, y'all about to have us fighting in here." Kara tapped me on the shoulder then whispered in my ear. She low-key liked that type of drama but me, I wasn't for it.
"That is him," I replied as I looked over at him. He was now sitting calm as hell. To the point that I was second guessing myself on if the incident even happened.
Kara laughed at me, then focused her attention on the movie before she was back to covering her head from being scared. I on the other hand could no longer concentrate on the movie. So, I sat there quietly, deep in my thoughts.
