Dark Rose chapter 2

Chapter 2

We sat at a table in the empty food court and waited for the order number to be announced.

"168!" I sprang up from my chair and walked over to the pizza place. I took the tray of three pizza slices from the old Asian man and handed him a twenty dollar bill. He gave me the change and I walked back over to Sera and Rydel. When I arrived at the table Rydel was talking about Ratliff.

"He's such a cutie!" I sat down, put the tray on the round table and said, "Speaking of cuties, what's going on with Ross?" I took a bite of the pineapple pizza. "Oh, I think he got a new girlfriend. I believe her name is Christi. I've only met her once but she's really sweet!" I wanted to puke. "What?!" "Wait do you still like him?" "Well..ya I mean, he's the one who broke up with me." Sera didn't say anything. I guessed it would have been awkward for her.

We didn't say anything for a couple minutes. I could feel the tears in my hazel eyes. "Are you okay?" Sera asked. I nibbled on the pizza crust. "I'm fine." She must've seen the tear gliding along my cheek. Rydel leaned over and gave me a hug. As much as I hated hugs, this one felt loved. I hugged her back.

After we finished our pizza slices we went to a few random clothing stores. Rydel had two bags from Forever21 and one from Topshop. Sera bought a pair of sunglasses, and I got a few shirts from Zummies. After we had finished shopping, the mall started closing so we decided to go.

When we arrived at my house Rydel and Sera left my car and drove off in their own. I lay my four head on the steering wheel and start crying. I closed my eyes, and remembered all the good times I've had with Ross. All those great times. I missed him. I wanted him back.

When I finally got myself together I went through the glass French doors of my house. My mom was sitting on the couch in front of the black tv. She was obviously waiting for me. "Dani..is everything alright?" I forgot that I had smudged my mascara from crying. "Everything's fine," I said in an unsure tone. I ran upstairs and into my room and plopped onto my white bedspread.
