Before I start, I should probably introduce myself... My name is Minerva Lachance, but please call me Malcolm... See the thing is, I'm trans... Nobody knows that and I planned to keep it that way... Sadly, fate decided one big "Fuck you" to me and made me a fucking superhero... Not that I'm complaining, just there are better ways to come out of the closet.
It was senior year, our school was having a trip to a science fair because some of the science students were participating. As I strolled the stalls, thunder boomed outside with a foreboding crack. The girls around me squealed, their jock boyfriends clinging to them. I sighed muttering 'it's just lightning, these people have no chill'. I sat down at the desk in front of my friend Maria's stall. Everything seemed to slow down as the lightning struck the stall behind me and I slowly lost conscious .
I woke up in a hospital, the bright light shining in my eyes. "fuck... that's bright..." "Minerva? Are you ok?" I shot up, trying not to shudder at the name Minerva and nodded "y-yeah..." I looked across the hospital room to see mum and dad. I mumbled "what happened?" They never answered me
Hours later, I was discharged from the hospital... Whatever had happened in between the lightning and the hospital I have no idea about. I think it's that which scared people... The lightning did something to me... Something irreversible and fuck if I know how to deal with it even now...
