Song: In Friends We Trust by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!
Liz
"Hey, Liz," I heard some call out. My head immediately shot up from my phone. The merch was already set up and the fans had already been let in, but the gave us a pretty crappy location so business was a bit slow. When I looked up, I saw Ricky's familiar figure walking towards me. As soon as I saw him, I felt a smile twitch at my lips and my stomach do a fierce flip-flop.
"Hi, Ricky," I replied when he had reached the table. I ran my fingers through my hair nervously. I didn't know what it was, but being around Ricky made me so nervous. He quickly busied himself looking at the track list for The Word Alive's new album 'Real.' I could tell he didn't know what to say and the feeling was mutual.
"So, do you ever, um, get a break?" he asked suddenly, looking up from the album that was taped to the table. He looked over at me from across the table with those amazing eyes of his.
"Um, sometimes their tour manager will take over for a bit especially when I'm out here all day," I responded. Most of the time, Paul, who managed the band, would relieve me on Warped Tour since I needed to eat and use the bathroom and stuff.
"You should come see us play then," he suggested with a glint of hope in his eyes. I was thinking that Paul probably wouldn't want to stay for their half hour set, but I just couldn't say no to those eyes and that face.
"I'll ask their manage if he's-" but was immediately cut off.
"Ask me what?" Paul's familiar voice questioned, making me turn around. He had this grin on his face that was practically screaming 'does Liz have a crush?'
"I was just wondering if you would mind watching the tent later so I could go watch Motionless In White's set," I answered. I was actually kind of wishing he'd say yes because I wanted to see Ricky play. I don't know what it was, but after just a day of knowing he existed I had this weird desire to see his band play.
"Yeah, I don't mind," he responded after looking from me to Ricky then back to me with that stupid grin on his face. Paul and I had become good friends over the years he had been The Word Alive's manager, so he was probably just happy to think that I found someone I liked, but it was kind of starting to creep me out. "What time are you guys playing?" he added.
"Three forty," Ricky responded happily. As if sensing our conversation was done, his phone starting blaring a song by HIM, signaling someone was calling him.
"The guys probably need some help with equipment or something, but I'll see you later, Liz," he told me, giving me an adorable smile. He then hit the big green answer button on his phone before walking away a bit reluctantly.
"Well, it looks like someone has a boyfriend," Paul teased, causing my cheeks to become hot. For some reason, the whole band and the rest of the crew loved to pick on me. It was probably because I was the only girl amongst them.
"I do not. I just met him, like, less than twenty four hours ago," I responded. I instinctively checked the time on my phone and started trying to mentally calculate how long I had known he existed.
"But you like him and judging by the way he was looking at you, he likes you, too," he insisted. I just shook my head at him. There was no way Ricky would like me. He was in a band, which meant he could get anyone he wanted. There was no way he would settle for someone like me.
"Just because someone makes eye contact with me doesn't mean that they like me," I responded. Even when I didn't like someone, Paul liked to persistently bug me about the feelings the guy had for me. Like I said, they all tease me endlessly.
"Yeah, but he couldn't take his eyes off of you. It was practically written all over his face, Liz," he responded. I doubted that he 'couldn't take his eyes off of me.' I wasn't anything out of the ordinary in the looks department. I thought I was average, but nothing more. Maybe I just had a low self-esteem, but it was how I felt.
"You're just jumping to conclusion. I doubt he likes me," I replied sternly. He constant nagging was getting a bit annoying honestly. As much as I loved the guys I toured with, they could get on my nerves sometimes.
"Ok, have it your way, but I can say I told you so when you two start dating," he told me as if admitting defeat. I mentally let out a sigh of relief that he was going to drop it when of course Telle came up to the merch tent.
"Are you guys talking about Ricky?" Telle questioned, pushing his sunglasses up to the top of his head. He gave me a grin similar to the one Paul had been flashing before.
"So, you see it, too?" Paul questioned almost excitedly. I knew they were just trying to make sure I was happy, but them trying to push me into a relationship wasn't the way to do it.
"Well, I saw her with him last night at the barbecue and there was defiantly something going on there," Telle tease, raising his eyebrows suggestively. I hit his arm in attempt to make him stop, but of course he ignored my action.
"Guys, I just met him last night! There is nothing going on with me and him because I know nothing about him," I exclaimed, obviously exacerbated. I shook my head had my annoyingly persistent friends.
"Don't deny you have a massive crush on him," Telle told me. I swear, we were such good friends now that he could read me like an open book. He knew me better than I knew myself sometimes.
"I don-" I started to say, but Telle gave me a look that said he knew I was lying. "Ok, maybe I do, but that's just because he's good-looking and I doubt he would want to date me," I finally admitted.
"First, stop putting yourself down. You're awesome, Liz. He'd be crazy not to want to date you," Telle told me, giving me an encouraging smile. He was always good at cheering me up. "Second, he's making his feeling for you so obvious. You must be blind," he added.
"Just watch. He'll ask you out soon," Paul insisted, causing me to shake my head again. He gave me a smile. I hadn't had a boyfriend in so long that I wasn't even sure if I would know what to do on a date, but I would really love to spend more time with Ricky. I didn't know why I was so fascinated with him, but all I could think about was seeing him again.
