Once upon a time there was a boy named James. He was an average depressed teenage boy who wore a lot of black and ripped jeans. He was at a low point in life to where she just hated..well..life. One day He decided to take a walk around the beautiful city of New York when he came across his favorite store, Hot Topic. Of course he didnt have any money but he loved looking at all the clothes and items in the store. Once he was done he left the store and started walking again. He put her headphones in listening to Pierce The Veil on full blast. He decided to take a walk in Central Park and just look at the trees. He was the kind of guy who just loved nature. As his eyes wandered, they stopped at a girl sitting on a bench by hefself. James glanced at her and saw her holding something in her hand but couldn't make out what the object was. She was cute to what he could see. Getting a little curious he decided to sit on the other side of the bench keeping a good distance. In his mind he knew it was a bad idea, but he couldn't help his curiosity get the best of him. Taking out one ear bud he sat there starring at the trees occasionally looking at the girl next to him. "So what makes you come out here so late?" The girl spoke which startled him a bit. He looked at her, "I can't take a walk?" She replied. "Well..yeah..but its a little odd for a teenager to be walking so late dont you think?" The girl said looking at him. At this point James eyes were stuck on her. He couldn't help but stare, she was very attractive, in a cute emo sort of way. "Well..your out here too..what are you doing out here?" He asked in a weird tone of voice. He knew he was bad at talking to people, so he usually just avoided them but..for some reason this girl intrigued him. The girl just looked down, giving James a chance to see what was in her hand, they were pills. The girl looked back at him seeing that he saw the item in her hand. "What your thinking.. its true." She said which made James look up at her. "Yupp, I was ganna kill myself..." She said looking at the ground. "W-why?" Was all James could let out. He knew it was a stupid question but..he couldnt help but ask. "Life just sucks..my family is barely making it by..theres so much fighting..my family basically ignores my existence and when they do actually notice me, its to tell me what a waste I am..I hate myself." James had no words..of course he always had suicidal thoughts as well..he always got through it though surprisingly. "Sorry..you probably dont wanna hear about my problems.." the girl said interrupting his thoughts. "No its fine..I like hearing your problems. I mean.. not that I lile that you have problems or anything or like, find it cool or anything I just-" the girl just started giggling which made James feel embarrassed. "Sorry..Im not used to really..talking to people." James said looking down. "Its cool." The girl said smiling. "Im Madeline." "Im James." James said smiling back at her. "Soo..." Madeline said looking at the container of pills. "Are you really going to.." James said with a quiet voice. "No..not anymore atleast. I think if you wouldnt have sat next to me I might have." Madeline said. "Well good..." James said not knowing what else to say. Madeline looked at her phone checking the time. "Well..I guess I better get home." She ssid standing up. James stood up as well. "Could I walk you?" James asked. He didnt know why. He was terrible at talking to people. But he didn't wanna leave the girls company. "Sure, its just a few blocks down." Madeline answered smiling. The two began walking in silence for a while. "So..tell me about yourself." Madeline spoke up. "Well..my name is James Alfaro. I have a small family. Im not the best in school, I barely make it by actually. I spend most of my time in my room avoiding people. I sort of just get on the internet and play video games all day." James tried to describe himself leaving out everything about his depression and bad things about his life. "Cool." Madeline nodded. "What about you?" James asked. "Well..my name is Madeline Olivarez. I moved here a few months ago with my mom and older sister. Im good at school I guess. Its kimda hard for me to make friends since I dont like talking to new people much but, I have some cousins here so I guess thats good. Im in love with bands, I spend most of my time on the internet and listening to music being very depressed. I try to get out of the house sometimes. Mostly just trying to avoid family." James just nodded. "Well..this is my apartment building." Madeline said stopping in front of her apartment. James felt kind of sad that she had to leave. "Will I get to see you again?" James wanted to slap himself after saying that. Who would ever want to see him again? "Sure." Madeline said smiling. James couldn't help but give a little smile too. Madeline started walking up to him as she grabbed his hand and quickly wrote down her number. "Well I gatta go..Ill talk to you soon." Madeline said making her way into the building. "Yeah, see ya." James started to turn around to make his way home. "Oh and James?" James turned around as Madeline called to him. "Yes?" He answered. "Thank you..for..you know." Madeline said with a slight smile. "No problem.." James smiled back as he watched Madeline make her way into the building leaving him to his thoughts. James walked home and entered his apartment quietly since everyone was asleep. He changed into some shorts as he layed on the bed listening to music. He always slept with a million thoughts on his mind. But this time there was just one. And that was Madeline.
