I couldn't have really complained about the life I had had until then. The moment my whole life had changed that is. I mean there are a couple of those but I'll get to those later.

First you need to know that my name is Yamamoto Reika and because I am Japanese my last name comes first. I was born June 2nd 2001. My older brother, Takumi, of whom I am very close to moved to Canada for a job opportunity quite recently while I stayed in Tokyo with our parents.

Now...on to the day my whole world changed. On my birthday last year, my girlfriend (that's right, girlfriend), Sakura and I were on our way home from one of my many street lives. Being a singer/songwriter at my age wasn't easy but Sakura was always there to support me. We had decided to take a rare taxi drive home. A decision I regret to this day. We were laughing, making too big of plans for the future, plans for recording, and eloping when everything went to shit. A car from no where came crashing into the side of the taxi, killing the driver on impact.

I suffered no fatal injuries but Sakura....Sakura suffered severe injuries. All I could do was hold her to me.

"Keep singing." She said.

The ambulances came but she had already lost consciousness and I was a teary mess. I had not needed them tell me as I knew she had just died in my arms.

We arrived at the hospital where her parents were waiting. Sakura's time of death was announced and we all sobbed in each others arms together until her parents were taken to sign some papers.

Her mother came back out shortly, carrying Sakura's necklace. She then handed it to me.

"She would have wanted you to have it." She told me.

That's how I ended up locked in my room planning my move to Canada to be with my brother through an exchange program. I didn't know much but I knew that I wanted to be with the one person who I knew would understand and support me in ways my parents did not.
