I sat in the back seat of the sedan with Christopher. He slept in my arms, and since there wasn't a car seat to have him sit in, this was safer.
"We should contact CPS when we get back to the station." Fin sighed, and I nodded slowly.
"Yeah." I breathed, but after what this little boy had gone through, I didn't know if I wanted to send him off to some random foster home where he'd be forgotten. Christopher is three, his father is going to jail, and his mother is dead. He lost everything, and he doesn't need to lose anything else.
"Or maybe you and Elliot could keep him overnight? He trusts you." Fin spoke, as he pulled to a stop and looked back at me.
"I don't know." I frowned.

"Fin and Liv, go talk to the dad," Munch spoke, as he came out of his office. I was sitting in my desk chair with Christopher on my lap sleeping still. He had woken up and ate a small lunch, but then he passed out again. When I went to lay him down, he screamed and cried until I picked him back up.
"Captain, can I stay here?" I asked as I continued to gently rub Christopher's back and flip through files we found at their house.
"Ben-"
"I can go with Fin," Brian spoke, as he stood.
"Gu-"
"If the kid wants Olivia, then let her stay here. He's been through a lot. She's great with him, and he's sleeping." Monique breathed, as she looked at the little boy that laid in my arms. He shifted a bit and shoved his thumb into his mouth. I leaned down and placed my cheek against his soft red hair and looked at Munch.
"Please, Captain." I breathed.
"Okay." He huffed, before turning and walking into his office. I went back to looking through the files as Fin walked to me.
"Just take him home with you tonight. Call CPS right when they are closing, and then you can keep him for the night or until they can have a foster home open. I'll see you in a bit, baby girl."
[*]
I borrowed a car seat from Lelia since she only had the car seat for when she babysat her nephew. I got CPS to let me keep Christopher until they could find him a foster home, and I knew it was a mistake for us to keep him. We'd fall in love with that little boy just to have him taken away.
"Olivia?" Christopher questioned, as we waited for Elliot to come and get us. I asked him to bring our new car instead of the truck, which confused him.
"Yeah, Christopher?" I questioned.
"Who is going to be my Mommy now?" He frowned.
"I don't know, bud. But you'll get a great Mommy who will love you so much." I breathed, as I sat down on the stairs. I pulled Christopher onto my lap as he leaned his head against my shoulder.
"Will you be my mommy?" He asked, and I swallowed hard. I was already falling in love with this little boy, and that's why I really should've picked a unit where I wouldn't get attached to those I help.
"I don't know, Christopher," I whispered. He sighed as he climbed off my lap and grabbed his backpack. He started down the stairs and I stared at him.
"Christopher, what are you doing, little man?" I asked.
"I'm gonna go home. Bye, Livia." He sighed, and I chuckled a bit as I stood. I walked down the stairs and swung him into my arms as he giggled. Even if he had been there when his mother was killed, his bubbly personality had shown through after he napped.
"Okay, silly boy. You aren't going anywhere. Now, come on. That is my husband's car. We can go to my apartment and we can eat dinner, okay?"
"I guess." He giggled.
Elliot pulled to a stop outside of the precinct and looked at me with wide eyes as he walked around the car.
"Uh, Liv?" He asked, and I sighed softly. I placed Christopher on my hip, and then picked up the car seat.
"Elliot, this is Christopher. He is going to stay with us for tonight, and maybe for a few other days. Christopher, this is my husband Elliot. He's a good guy too. He's a detective just like me." I smiled softly.
"Hi, Elliot," Christopher whispered shyly.
"Hey, little dude. Why don't we get you in the car, and then I have to talk to my wife real quick."
[*]
Elliot was unsure about having Christopher staying with us, but I told him about what happened to his mother and he said he could stay. But honestly, he wasn't going to tell me no.
Once we arrived at our apartment, Elliot tried to get the small boy out of his car seat, but Christopher started to cry. I was nervous that he might've witnessed what his father did, and that's why he's scared of men. So I carried the little boy into the apartment, and I took him into my bedroom and we finally went through his backpack. As I looked at it, I could see that it looked like someone had packed his clothes. Maybe they were going to take him. Maybe his mother was finally going to run away from her husband.
"Who packed you all of these clothes?" I asked, and he sighed.
"My mommy did. She said we were going to run away from Daddy. But now I'm here with you."
"Sweetie, what did you see?" I whispered, and he frowned.
"I saw my Daddy do that mean thing to my Mommy. So I ran into my room and hide. I opened my window so he thought I went out there." He spoke, and my eyes went wide. I was beyond surprised that he had thought about that.
"Christopher, I know that you had to witness that all, but sweetheart Elliot is a good guy. He wants to help you just like I do."
"Are you going to be my Mommy, and Elliot is going to be my Daddy?" He asked, and I swallowed hard.
"I'm going to CPS in the morning. I'm going to see if we can foster you." Elliot breathed. My eyes went wide as I looked at him.
"El-"
"Everyone deserves to be with someone they trust, and everyone deserves a family. We have space. We can be a family."
