Being An Immortal

Prologue

My name is Vivian Corvinus. I derive from the line of Marcus Corvinus. Anyone who is born a descendant of Selene the Moon Goddess is one of the purest of Immortals. There are only nine clans who are pureblooded which are Corvinus, Wallish, Godfrey, Rolfe, Dracul, Payne, Smith, Duvall and Clarke.

An Immortal is not like your typical vampire that you would come across. We survive off of animal blood and natural food that humans generally eat. The only vampires who have to survive off of human blood are those who were turned into a vampire. An Immortal is a vampire that is born and not made. This is what distinguishes us from the impure vampires besides the blood that we consume. A human can be changed into a vampire if they are bitten and given some of our blood. It is the same way for a impure vampire to change someone as well. The only downfall for them is it doesn't always work for them if they try to change someone. If they try to turn someone they have a fifty-fifty chance of making it through the change. Anytime we change someone their chances are one hundred precent. Immortals can also develop abilities such as telepathy, empathy, elemental, kinetic, speed, and so on. They also can develop a bond with an animal which would make it their protector. Not every Immortal can develop a bond such as this. It is a rare bond that only the Goddess Selene can bestow on one. All the vampires are gifted a mate in which they are made for specifically courtesy of Selene the moon Godess.

(In the folklore Selene was in love with a man who was one of the first vampires ever created. She could not be with him unless she was one too, but she could not do so since she was a maiden to Artemis. When Selene was on her deathbed Artemis granted Selene her an Immortal life so she could be with her one true love. Selene led a wonderful life with many children amoung her lover until she was slayed by a werewolf. When she died from the werewolf bite she became the Moon Goddess so she could watch over her children and her love. She decided she wanted every vampire that was to live a mate. Someone they could love as she did hers. She also would gift Immortals an ability so that they would be able to protect themselves from the beasts that are out in the world and few a protector as well.)

All five clans have their own territories where they dwell. The Smith clan presides in the the U.S.A. along with the Clarke's. The Duvalls are in France. The Godfreys preside in Canada close to the border, while the Wallish clan is found in Ireland and the Payne's are in Scotland. The Draculs live in Russia, while the last clan, Corvinus, dwells in England.

In every clan there are Death Warriors. These individuals are ones who are like the elite fighters who protect everyone. They are also the only individuals who were gifted an animal protector as well. No one is allowed into the Death Warriors unless they have an animal protector. It is one of the laws that has been enforced ever since the clans themselves were created. I, Vivian Corvinus, am one of those Death Warriors.
