Hi all, my first attempt at book cover making. The book cover for this story is made by me. I know its not that good.

Thank you all for reading this story. This is not an edited version.

“Shanon, do you promise to be with me forever?”

The handsome boy asked me.

“Yes, Raymond I promise.”

Raymond gets down on one knee. He picks out something from his pocket. It’s a small velvet box. He opens the lid and the most beautiful and elegant ring shows up.

“Shanon, I promise to love you forever. Will you marry me?” Raymond asks me with a big smile, he is sort of nervous too.

I cannot believe what happened. It’s the time I had been waiting for. All I wanted to be was his. My best moment had arrived.

“Yes” I gave him my answer with a big smile.

He slid the ring in my finger and stood up. He leaned forward to kiss me.

But I heard someone calling me. I turned back and my dream disappeared.

“Shanon, wake up sweety”

I try to open my eyes and blink several times to see what’s going on. Then I realize where I am. I see the person lying in front of me in the bed and sleeping peacefully. I can hear the voice of the machines beeping nearby.

“Shanon, you should go back home. If you sleep in the chair you will have a back pain plus neck pain.”

I turn towards the person. I realize that it was Raymond’s mother.

“No, I don’t want to go home. I want to stay here with him.” I reply honestly. How could I leave the most important person of my life alone here or say how could I leave my life?

“I know that you love him a lot. He means a lot to you. But you need to take care of yourself for him.”

“I am taking care of mine.” I replied back.

“No, Shanon you are not taking care of yourself. You have left your job, you hardly eat or sleep, you hardly move or talk to anyone. It’s been more than a year when all this happened. You have never left his side. You stay here all the time with him and I really appreciate that. But it’s not good for you.”

“How could you say that it’s not good for me to stay here? You are his mother. Do you think if it happened to me then he would have left me?” I questioned her.

“Because I am his mother that’s why I am saying this, he would never want that you hurt yourself for him. And yes he will do the same for you. But would you like that when you are lying on the bed, he suffers for you. Will you be happy if he makes himself ill?”

I could understand what she was saying. He will never want me to hurt myself. He would want me to take care of myself. It will never make him happy. I have to take care of myself so that when he wakes up, I will be there with him.

I look back at him lying on the hospital bed. He was my life, my Raymond.

It was more than a year ago when all this happened.  It was the day Raymond proposed me. We were so happy. It was the most special day of our life. We sat in his car and drove towards our parents home to announce the good news. But we never knew that it will change our lives and shatter them. It will ruin our happiness.

It was getting dark that day. Raymond was driving the car. We were both listening to our favorite music on radio. Suddenly A truck came in front of us. Its light blinded us. The truck was out of control. It came right at us and smashed our car. It hit in the driver side where Raymond was sitting. I could myself get numb. I saw Raymond’s eye closed, blood was bleeding from his head. I was scared for him. I was scared of the approaching death. I tried to call his name but I was too weak. And slowly everything went black and I became unconscious.
