//Sixteen — Bright Lights, Fuzzy Things and a Caring Bad Boy//
Willa Van der Mariel
The music had started to get to my head after forty minutes, and I kept finding reasons to trip over. Poor Mason had to keep a eye on me at all times, or I would probably trip and be trampled and his girlfriend would be dead.
And I know he needs me for something.
I haven’t figured it out yet, but when I do, I will find some way to use it against him.
The lights and people had also started to blur together after I had finished my drink, blending together in a whirl of colours.
It was dizzying.
“Whoa” I said as I stumbled again, and Mason’s warm arm was gripping onto me again, keeping me from falling over. I let out a bubbly giggle. “Your really warm”
“Oh, god. And I was looking for fun tonight”I looked at him, my eyes wide in curiosity. “Looking for a chick? I am pretty sure that’s against the whole boyfriend/girlfriend thing”
He stared at me for a second, before closing his eyes in exhaustion. “When I have what I want I won’t be unfaithful. Now, let’s get you home”
“No! I want to dance”Willa, you can’t dance. You and dancing goes together like me and cooking — it doesn’t! AND ICE CREAM ENDS UP GETTING BURNT!
“Shut up” I mumbled, wanting her to leave me alone for once.
“What did you say?” Mason asked, leaning in closer, when I didn’t answer, he sighed. “Let’s go”
I scowled and detached myself from his warm arms, and took a step backwards. “Go away then. I can look after myself”
Mason laughed. “This is not your scene, Willow. Now, lets go”
This time I let him guide me out of the scene, not at all upset to feel the cold air erupt on my face and wash away most of the dizziness from inside. Outside, it was quieter then inside, but there was still some yelling from a bunch of kids, who were all drinking large amounts.
I wonder how their hangover is going to play out.
Mason led me to someone’s car, that definitely wasn’t Justin’s.
“Whose car is this?” I asked.
“Mara’s boyfriend — James”
I frowned. “Mara goes to these parties”
“No, James does though. He has a kick for parties, always manages to get everyone to come. He is very charismatic” Mason said, and it sounded as if he liked the guy.I wished I had liked Averie’s boyfriend a little more and then spent more time with him, then maybe I would’ve seen this coming. But, sometimes it was nice having so much ignorance about him, since well, the betrayal would’ve of made the situation worst.
Don’t think about him, Willa.
Mason unlocked the car, and I slid inside.
“How do you have access to this car?” I asked.
“James get’s so pissed at the end of the night he usually spends the night, and so his neighbour thinks he came home — since they spy on him, and he has to make a good impression for his parents — he gets one of us to drop it off. It’s usually me — I have a very tough alcohol tolerance” He stated, looking annoyingly smug at himself.
