Good Night and Welcome Home

"Good night my sweet baby boy," his mother called from the door.

"Night. Leave the door open a crack like you promised. Please mommy," said the little boy.

His mom turned around and said, "thank you for reminding me Alex." She left the door open and walked away the hall light still on.

Alex smiled and curled under the blankets feeling safe and warm. 

Tonight he wasn't going to have nightmares. He had everything ready to catch those pesky monsters. 

Alex and his mom had set up dream catchers, sprayed monster repellent around his bed and on his blankets with the spray for good dreams on his pillow and blankets. Alex also has the blankets to hide under if he didn't feel safe anymore.

"Tonight," he said. "Tonight is the night I will win against these horrible monsters. wish me luck Sir Bounce-A-Lot."

As Alex was starting to doze off, he heard the sound of something falling. He shoots straight up and looks around his room with fear.

"Hello?" He calls out in fear.

Upon hearing nothing, Alex grabs his toy gun and gets out of bed.

With shaky legs, Alex opens the closet door and points the gun inside pulling the trigger rapidly with his face turned the other way.

After making sure he killed everything in the closet, he slowly looks inside and sees a big furry creature lying on the floor holding his arm groaning in pain.

"What was that for Alex?" The creature said, "I'm Your friend. I've been sent to escort the king from his room so he can speak to his people."

"Daddy, that won't work this time," said Alex. "It didn't work the last time, and i didn't work this time." Alex sighs and climbs back into his bed.

"Kid, I ain't your daddy. I'm your servant and you are the king of a land you need to speak to. They are all waiting for a speech saying you have finally woken up and are ready to rule the Land of Dreams."

The monster stood up and walked out of the closet still holding his arm. "By the way, my name is Momo."

"Hello Momo, I'm Alex."

"Yes, I know. You are King Alex and you need to get up so you can address your people."

"Ok." Gets out of bed again and follows Momo as he leaves the room.

Momo walks out of the house and onto a balcony that overlooks what looks like a million people.

Momo gives Alex a handful of cards. "Read these."

"I can't read Momo."

"Just say something like you've just woken up."

"I'VE JUST WOKEN UP AND I'M READY TO LEAD YOU ALL?"

"Welcome home," screamed the crowd. "Welcome home. Welcome home."
