It was a really nice afternoon on autumn's weekend. The temperature was a little bit low, but the sun was shining and it did not matter. 'Almost like summer' I thought.
This afternoon I was spending in a small cabinet which belonged to my uncle. The surrounding area was big, there was a forest and even a small lake. That's why it was chosen for a family barbecue and meeting. I guess it was kind of a tradition.
The atmosphere was lazy, everyone have already eaten, there was a friendly conversation. I excused myself to skip the 'do you have a boyfriend' part and went for a walk in the forest. Nobody offered to come along, just as I expected.
I walked past a small playground, that used to be so lively when me and my cousins were kids. Now the view was kind of sad, everything seemed abandoned. There was nobody to cut the grass, and care about this place. I decided to keep going, because I got nostalgic.
I entered the forest, probably my favourite part of this place. I found my favourite tree and climbed up as I used to when I was a kid. Of course I had to settle on lower branches, I was now higher, and, even though I wouldn't admit it publicly, much heavier. I put on my earphones and relaxed, listening to my favourite tunes.
I might have been there a little longer than I expected. The sun was setting when I came back to reality. I quickly jumped off of the tree (of course I tripped while doing so, and landed not-so-graciously on my ass). My hand landed on something wet end sticky, gross! When I tried to wipe it off I noticed something - the liquid was red.
I tried to convince myself that it was just, umm, something? But I freaked up a bit, and hurried back to the house. I noticed that the carousel in the playground was squeaking, but I didn't pay that fact much attention.I sighed with relief when I saw my family. They were all there, talking and eating dessert. I sat with them and took my portion, listening to their stories. I relaxed and forgot about my little accident.
After a while I noticed that something didn't seem right. I felt like someone was watching me, in an unfriendly manner. I looked over at familiar faces and noticed something else - my sister was missing. I asked my parents about her, and they told me that she went to the toilet, but didn't come back yet.
I couldn't sit in place and went out to look for her. The toilet was actually a small building in the forest of the back of a cabin. The door was closed, so I knocked. Maybe she got diarrhea from eating barbecue? When I waited for answer I heard something behind me and I quickly turned around. I saw a silhouette and then something heavy hit my head. Then there was only darkness.
