CHAPTER V MEETING THE SOPHOMORE REP

Skylar just left her first  three introductory classes for Thursday.  She went to the sophomore booth still open for the first week looking for her rep.

“Hi. I’m Skylar Sanchez. I still have to find my sophomore rep,” Sky said smiling to the girl in front of her.

“Hello. I’m Judith. I can assign you your rep.” She held out her hand to shake Skylar’s hand after dismissing her as a plain looking new freshman student.  She had nice fitted jeans, nothing expensive and a simple floral with white background muscle sleeves loose fitting peasant cotton blouse with wedge red espadrills. She’s cute. Country bumpkin cute that is. Even her espadrills has a butterfly motief. Flowers and birdies type. What does doe plan to major in? BA in disaster fashion? She smirks.

Judith looks like an angel, Sky thought. Until she looked up at her indeed. Now she’s being a bitch within their first minute of meeting. She did not miss the quick once over look and the quick dismissal after. She had hoped to be a friend having seen her at the west wing of the campus student house earlier. So she knows they both live in the same building. Sky just extended her hand and gave firm grip, being civilized enough with a little bit of her left eye brow raised.  “Thanks I appreciate that,” she still politely replied deciding not to give in and join  her  probably lousy day.

Just then a tall guy joined them smiling. “Hi guys,” he smiled warmly. “I’m Vince Marbella by the way.” I’m a BS Information Engineering major and I am not coupled yet to a freshman.” His eyes teasingly smiled.

“Vince you want to be her sophomore rep? What’s your major honey? Maybe it’s not compatible. We can give you a better match to better guide you with your first year only.” Judith hopes. She has a crush on Vince and he is still single after 2 years in college. Most have a secret crush on him being a sweet guy.

“Oh I have double major in Management and Behavioral Studies.”

“Great!” replies Vince. “I have a minor in economics. I could definitely show you how to gather information for research purposes using the latest data management software. Isn’t that what you would need to study and analyze human behaviour?”

“Yes indeed. Although, I will have data and scientific analysis later on my third year.”

“Then I could definitely give you a head start compared with other remaining reps. I definitely have to be your sophomore rep now, ” he quips with a friendly flirt.

Judith not wanting to be catty in front of Vince smiled and gritted her teeth. He’s just a bit too enthusiastic but hey, Vince is always a great guy. A pity it’s not a freshman guy who came in just when he is around.

“Congratulations Sky. You’ve landed yourself  an excellent student guide. Fill up the form using the school intranet under Sophomore guide. I assume Vince will show you how to use a computer if you don’t know how to use it yet?” Judith can’t resist asking snidely.

“Oh I came from Luna Pearl Hacienda in Panay. We are taught to use computers in  high school. We have a good school in Santiago.”

“Honey, you’re in the Capital now. Vince why don’t you already help her.” Judith smirked again. What a country duh da she is. She irritatingly thought. She just isn’t happy that Vince has to guide any female freshman. They would be spending a lot of time together.

Vince did not miss the slight animosity. He knows Sky did not miss it also. She looks bright but still pure and naive. He might have to somehow teach her how to sharpen her nails in the city.  “Come on, why don’t we have an early lunch in the student cafe? There is a wifi access all over the whole campus. We do have computers free for enrolled students to use in the library and the student lounge though. Or you could borrow my laptop for the registration?”
