I groggily wake up and hit my alarm to stop it from going off again. I lay there in my bed just relaxing until i hear someone banging on my door. I slowly rise out of bed and make my way to my door. When i open it i get ambushed by my parents and my older brother Samuel. They all three hug me while yelling happy birthday. I didnt even remember my birthday was today. My brother Samuel looks at me with his vibrant blue eyes, "Vivian! I can not believe that you are turning eighteen today. I can not wait to see what powers you will start to possess or if you will get a protector!" He has always been a overzealous brother. I honestly do not know what i would do without him though. He is six feet tall with sandy blonde hair like mine. I really wish he would get a hair cut, but he likes to keep it just a bit shaggy. We act so much alike you would believe we were twins.
I look up at him and shrug my shoulders and say, "Yeah. Yeah. I know. You don't have to keep reminding me. In all honesty i am just excited to see if i get a protector more than anything." I turn around from them and start walking back to my bed to sit down. I know today is a very important day. It has been drilled into my head all my life by my parents. When an Immortal turns eighteen their powers will begin to surface and if they were given a protector then they will also meet them. I have always been more intrigued by getting a protector more thn anything. I know the likelihood of me getting on is steep but i can only imagine. I have been training since i was sixteen for the Death Warriors just in case i do get one. It has always been my dream to be one and to have a protector.
"Come on my dear. You must get ready as soon as possible. You will have to go to the Protectors Cove and see if you will get one. I know you have been looking forward to it since you were a little girl.", my mother tells me. Before i could get a word out my dad says, "You know we love you baby girl, and we got you a gift." He takes his hands from behind his back and hands me a small box. It is wrapped in crimson red paper and says happy birthday. I looked at my family and smile. I tell them thank you as i start to open it i notice it is the silver locket that belonged to my grandmother. It has our name Corvinus on it with swirls wrapping around it. I am stunned that they would have given me my grandmother's necklace because she was very possessive over it. I leap toward my parents and hug them tightly! "Thank you so much! I love it so much!", I tell them. My brother just stands there to the side smirking. My mother kisses my forehead as she tells me, " Your welcome sis. We will be waiting for you down in the dining room until you are ready. Your brother will drive you to the Protectors Cove since your father and I have some business to tend to at the mansion today." They both hug me and leave my bedroom. Once they exit my brother grins and shoves me towards my bed. He runs childishly out of my room laughing. I cant help but laugh as my butt lands on my bed. He really is something else. I get off my bed and head toward my dresser. I pull out some undergarments and grab the outfit i had setting out. It consists of a pair of dark capris with holes in the knees, a black tank top,and a dark green jacket. I walk to my bathroom thats beside my dresser and take a quick shower. As i step out I wrap my hair in a towel after i dry off. I quickly get dressed and brush my teeth. I then put on my deodorant and start to work on my makeup. Usually I don't do a whole lot just mascara and winged eyeliner. I dry my hair in the towel and run my hand through it to part it to my left. Once im done i quickly throw on my socks and slip on my converses as fast as i could. Since im a Immortal vampire it is seen as blur to a humans eye. I run down out of my bedroom and down the stairs to the dining room to my family. My parents wish me luck as I'm walking out of the door with my brother to his 1969 Shelby Gt. We both slide in as he spins out of the drive onto the road toward the Cove. It usually is a 15 minute drive but with my brothers driving it takes no time to get there. In the car the radio starts playing Broken by Seether. It is one if my favorite songs. I hum along as it plays until it goes off and i tune out everything as I watch out the window. My nerves are getting the vest of ne at the moment. I am truly scared right now. My parents dont have a protector and neither does my brother, so the chances of me getting one seems really slim at the moment. The car starts to slow down as we pull up to the edge of the woods. My brother looks at me, "I wish I could go with you Viv, but this is as far as I can go. You must go the rest of the way by yourself." He grabs my shoulder and gives me a reassuring squeeze. I nod my head and muster all the courage I could as I exit the car. I shut the door as I take a deep breathe letting my inner beast take over. I can feel my eyes switch from green to silver. My skins starts to tingle as I approach the treeline. Once i step into what looks like a forest it turns into a mystical cave. If I was a human I wouldnt be able to see, but since I am an Immortal I can see clearly in the dark. I begin to trek along the path through the musty cave. A few feet ahead of me I see an opening where I can see a crystal blue lake. There are so many different creatures laying around it just basking in the magical atmosphere. When I step into the clearing I begin to feel pressure in my head and my hear begins pounding. I know a bond is forming but i don't see the protector im destined with. I stand there looking around until I vaguely see glowing silver eyes staring at me from a tree. I instantly know this is my protector. I begin to kneel on the ground and bow my head slightly making it known I am not there to harm any creature and that I am accepting the bond. Within a blink of an eye I hear a thud and something stalking towards me. I dont dare to look up until i know it is right in front of me. I begin to feel something breathing on my neck and it is at that moment I start to tilt my head up to get a look at my protector. When i see it my eyes being to widen in shock.
