Chapter Eleven: Secrets to Keep
Alison hurried into the Great Hall. She was a little late for dinner but that was okay. After leaving Snape’s office she had gone out onto the grounds, the cold had helped her clear her mind. Now her cheeks were flushed with cold and her stomach was empty. She smiled wide when she saw George and walked along the table sitting down next to him. He smiled at her and squeezed her hand under the table.
“You’re freezing, Ali,” he said, “Where’ve you been?”
Ali smiled a little hoping it would throw any stop any questions, “Outside, doing a bit of thinking,” She grabbed the nearest dish and piled some onto her plate, “and I’m starving!” She had been dwelling on Snape, and all the secrets she had learned so far.
Ginny and Colin sat down across from her, “Well you better hurry,” Ginny said, “we have to be at the D.A. in about 10 minutes.”
Alison groaned and quickly finished her dinner. She stood, dragging George with her and they started towards the room of requirement. George took Alison’s hand and fell back behind Ginny and Colin.
“So where’s Fred?” she asked bumping into his shoulder.
“Off with Angelina somewhere.” George answered. Ginny spun around excitement on her face. When she caught sight of Alison and George’s intertwined fingers her eyebrows went up, but she went on with what she was going to say before, “Are they dating!?” she demanded of George, “Because they would be so cute!” she said with a small giggle.
Colin flashed Ginny and reproachful look, “Careful, you’re starting to sound like Kaylynn.” He warned with a smirk.
Ginny shoved him and fell into step beside her brother, “Tell me! Spill!”
George looked down at his only sister and grinned, “I’ll spill, when you spill.” was all he said. Ginny’s face went still, all expression gone. She was quiet the rest of the way.
They were the last people to enter the Room of Requirement. Harry smiled at and them and called attention to the room.
“Okay, so last meeting everyone did fairly well. Today I want to teach you all something new.”
There was a small ripple around the room. They had covered most of the basic spells so now Harry must be thinking of teaching something more advanced. “I’m thinking today we’ll start on the stunning spell.”
Hermione appeared in front of Harry, laying out the cushions they usually sat on. “It’s a simple spell,” Harry continued addressing them all, “I’m going to demonstrate first, and then we’ll try it.”
He smiled up at Alison, “Hey Ali,” he called across the room, “Care to be my target?”
Alison let out a small laugh and let go of George’s hand walking up to Harry, “Give me your best shot!”
He smirked and lined her up with the cushions.
“Give her a concussion Potter and I’ll kill you!” Angelina threatened. The room laughed for a moment. Alison smiled at Harry, “Do try not to give me a concussion, one a year is enough.”
He smirked and turned back to the room, “Okay, so you aim at your target and say, ‘Stupefy!’”
A jet of red light hit Alison square in the chest and she fell onto the cushions. The room applauded and Harry pointed his wand at her again, muttering the counter curse. Alison stood up and brushed off her pants. The room applauded again and she took a bow before returning to George in the back.
