1. Rejection

"No.... No.... please Asher don't say what I think you are going to say.." I pleaded looking at him with tear brimmed eyes.

He stood there showing no remorse towards me, he is going to leave the one and only he is supposed to spend his entire life with. This is the first time I am seeing this uncaring, unattached side of him.

"I Alpha Asher Knight of Destiny Pack, reject you, Ada James as my mate and Luna of Destiny Pack." Those were the words that I feared the most. As soon as he said those words, I felt the ground shattering beneath my feet, my heart clenched and the air from my lungs was knocked out. I felt millions of knives stabbing my chest.

"Ada, look I don't want to hurt you, but I don't love you, I love Sabrina, I have always looked at you as my best friend and nothing else. If you accept my rejection, the pain will ease." he told me, but I didn't have it in me in this moment to listen and think.

I ran away, I ran away as far from him as I can, I heard him calling my name but I couldn't look at that face, the face that I have always loved, the face that was always in the back of my mind, the face that I look for everywhere, and I couldn't ever forget it in a thousand years, even if I die.

END OF FLASHBACK

This memory is imprinted in my brain as if someone has carved it in my mind with a knife.

I idly sat there by the lake, watching the continuous flowing water, which never seems to stop, when anything comes in its way, it changes its course and flows past beyond the obstacle.

"Ada, how long will you take to move on? I have seen you in pain but couldn't do anything about it, but now it's enough!" I was interrupted from my moment by Wish, my cousin sister and best friend, who was there for me throughout my roller-coaster kinda life, she was there for me in all my ups and downs. She has guided me through every problem from helping me to pick the right shade of lipstick to dealing with bullying bitches. She was always there.

She comes and sits beside me, immersing her feet in the water like I had.

"I don't know Wish, I have loved him ever since we were teenagers, and now, knowing that he is my mate, my destined, doesn't help much." I said recalling the moments that I have spent with him. I cherish those moments with all my heart. Those were the days man!

"I understand Ada. But you have your whole life ahead of you, you can't spend your entire life crying for him."
Wish tries to make me understand.

I glance towards her and take a deep breath, "Why do you have to be right everytime Wish?" I ask her.

She grins and speaks up, "So are you up for the Hunting Games?" she asks cheerfully, but I can see the sadness behind those eyes. Wish is seven years older than me and she hasn't found her mate yet. I don't want to go looking for my second chance, but I don't have the heart to deny her because she has never turned me down for anything that I have demanded.

"Only for you" I sighed.

She squeaked and jumped up knocking me on my head in the process, I slowly stood up from the ground and watched her do her happy dance. She came rushing towards me and hugged me tightly.

"I love you, I love you, I love you......" she repeated still hugging me.

"I love you too Wish, I don't know what I will do without you." I told her with tears streaming down my eyes.

We both stood there hugging each other for what feels like eternity, and then she decided to pull away.

"Now, we don't want to look ugly when we find our mates, do we?" I laughed at her statement and shook my head. She wiped my tears away and I wiped hers. We walked back to the pack house, which we will soon be leaving.
