Chapter 2:

~Adrian’s POV

The sun was shining, the breeze teasing, playing, and everything was wonderful. I plopped myself down onto the grass with a grunt. This park was the only place I could feel completely happy. At home there was always something to do, at school there was always someone making life hell. And during all that time, there is that feeling that resides deep inside me and threatens to explode at the worst moments.

Suddenly, I hear a sound that immediately became etched into my memory, the free laughter of a girl. I sit up quickly and tried to see where that beautiful sound came from. Out the corner of my eye I saw a flash of pure black. I nearly got whiplash from turning my head so fast. The view that came upon me was one I would never have expected to see in my lifetime.

“I must be hallucinating,” I said incredulously. There was a girl crashing towards the earth! I jumped up as fast as I could and began running. The amount of times I tripped only reminded me of the danger that she was in. Not once did I think of how she was falling and what she was doing that she ended up falling from such a height. Ever since I was small, if anyone was in trouble, I would do my best to help them with no thought of my own safety. Just like now.

Not paying attention to my feet, I tripped over a stone and landed on my face. I blinked again and again to clear my eyes of dirt that sprayed onto my face. I couldn’t make it… Unwanted tears sprang to my eyes as I hit the ground in frustration. The tears were falling little by little when I heard the echo of that beautiful laughter. Wait, that wasn’t a memory, that laugh was real! I raised my head and tried once again to locate where that girl was. I looked up, and to my surprise, the laughter was coming from a tree! “Please tell me that I didn’t run all the way here and cry over a bird that can fly…” I groaned. Nevertheless, I had to go check on that bird. I looked around to make sure no one saw that sad performance and dusted myself off. The majestic oak was a giant, granting shade to whoever was patient enough to seek. The leaves were green and lush, beautifully flourishing. I walked up to the tree not knowing what I would see. My eyes slowly trailed up the bark till I saw bare feet and lightly tanned legs- Wait a second….. Birds don’t have tanned legs… My eyes shot up to the most beautiful image in the world. Her pure black tresses flowed like gentle waves and sat delicately upon her chest. Her lips were as rich in color, and as full as a brilliant red rose. But the one thing that I couldn’t bear to tear my eyes from was her eyes. They were a blue so bright it was grey. Her smoke like eyes drew me in till I forgot everything that was around me. She was slowly pulling a brush through her hair and removing her tangles, that is until her soft gaze drifted down to meet mine. Her beautiful eyes widened in surprise and fear. “Oh no no no no! Don’t be scared!” I crooned. Without thinking, I began climbing the tree, each reach closer to the amazing enigma before me.

~Alekzandra’s POV

As I saw him coming closer and closer I freaked. I twisted around faster than was humanly possible, and scurried up the tree almost as if I was a squirrel. The strange boy was close but was lagging behind. I used my abilities to reduce my weight drastically to get to the higher and thinner branches. The mystery guy was unaware of how precariously he was balancing. I took one final jump and landed on the last branch big enough to hold me. I looked deep into his eyes and got lost in the deep green eyes with blue and gold flecks dusted inside. Suddenly, I felt an abnormal tug inside of me towards the individual before me. I leaned forward involuntarily and parted my lips in an attempt to breathe. His eyes betrayed his surprise at the sudden change in me. He leaned back to get a better look at me when his grip slipped. A scream ripped out of me. I lunged and grabbed his arm but it slipped out of my grasp. “NO!!”
