Chapter 7

Jay's POV

Valerie is wheeled into trauma room 2. I stand beside her and hold her hand as Will (Dr. Halstead) and Natalie (Dr. Manning) do their job.

"Jay, I'm gonna need you to step outside so we can do our job" said Natalie

"No. I'm gonna stay right here beside her" I said

"Jay. Out. Now" said Will

I step out and the door closes. I watch through the window feeling helpless. I'm so angry at myself for not being there for her. I'm gonna give that son of a bitch a piece of my mind when I get back to the district. Will and Natalie comes out.

"How is she?" I asked

"She's responsive but is in rough shape. We took x-rays and nothing is punctured which is good. She just lost a lot of blood" said Will

"Don't worry. We got this Jay" said Natalie

Then the monitors go off.

"She's crashing!" said one of the nurses

"WE NEED A CRASH CART HERE!" said Natalie

"PUSH ONE MILLIGRAM OF EPI" said Will

"CHARGE TO 150. AND CLEAR" said Natalie

"STILL UNRESPONSIVE. PUSH ANOTHER MILLIGRAM OF EPI AND CHARGE TO 200" said Will

"AND CLEAR!" said Natalie

"OH MY GOD JAY! WHAT DID WE MISS?!?" said Erin and the team coming in

"She was just fine and now..." I said looking over to her with tears streaming down my face

"She'll pull through this. She's got Nat and Will" said Voight

After a few more tries, I finally heard the beep I've been waiting for. Will and Nat comes out with concern on their faces.

"Jay, I know you don't want to hear this but don't keep your hopes up. At this point, she's in critical condition. We don't know where else she could have been hurt. If she crashes again, there might not be a chance to bring her back" said Will

"DON'T SAY THAT! SHE'S A FIGHTER! I KNOW SHE WILL PULL THROUGH! RUN MORE TESTS, I DON'T CARE! JUST SAVE HER!" I said getting more upset

"Jay, look at her" said Will

"I can't lose her. I lost her once. I can't lose her again" I said trying not to break down

"We'll get more tests. Just sit tight" said Nat

"Thank you" I said

"C'mon, lets go outside for a bit" said Erin

I followed her and right as we walked outside, we bumped into Matt and Kelly.

"HEY JAY! " said Matt shoving me

"HEY HEY HEY" said Erin

"WHERE IS SHE!" Matt asked

"She's inside. Trauma room 2" I said

Matt shoves past me and walks inside.

"Hey Jay, don't worry about it" said Kelly tapping me shoulder before following Matt

Val's POV

I hear beeping sounds right beside me. Everytime I open my eyes, everything I see is so bright. I hear voices but they sound very unclear. I try to open my eyes again. I see two figures walk in but their fuzzy.

"She's awake! Can we have a doctor in here!" said Kelly as my vision got clearer

I realized I couldn't speak cause I had a tube down my throat. This freaked me out. I started to cough. I see a few doctors walk in.
