Chapter 9

We went to see what was going on and we saw how everything was disintegrating when Reed was touching them. I got inside his head and turned off his mutant ability as we try to figure out how to help Reed.

"I can help him mentally focus and then we can do physical training," I mentioned.

"I don't understand.....what the hell is going on with my dad," Lauren asked.

"His powers are out of control so we have to treat him like other newcomers especially those who have very dangerous powers," Nate explained.

I went inside his mind as we were dealing with his fear of hurting his family with his powers.

"Reed, you're going to be ok......your powers won't hurt your family as long as you can control it," I said.

"How?"

"With practice......you can control your powers as long as you remain focus on the one thing that matters," I advised.

It took awhile to get Reed Strucker together but it was a success and Marcos along with Nate was helping Reed to train physically. I went to the bathroom so I can clean myself up when I saw my mother in the mirror, behind me.

"My beautiful Angel Rose"

I turn around and she was gone so I went to my room to rest.

'Angel Rose, help me!'

'Mama, where are you?!'

'Please help your mother before she's gone'

I saw Reeva behind her with William forcing her to use her power. I saw Lorna behind them dead from Reeva's powers and I was angry.

'Mom!!! Lorna!!!'

I noticed from my reflection that I had unleashed the Phoenix upon them.

'Anya!!! Anya, wake up!!!'

My eyes shot open and I heard everything crashed as I fell into John's arms.

"Anya, what the hell is going on?" Nate asked

"I don't know......I don't know," I said.

"It's breaking free, isn't it?" He asked.

"Maybe.....but I don't know what to do anymore; with the Professor and your mother gone, I don't know if it's coming back or I'm just overusing my powers," I mentioned.

"What's this thing you're talking about?" Marcos asked.

"Are you talking about.....I thought the X-Men took care of that," John said.

"Hello, you're leaving us in the wind," Lauren said.

I went to grab my laptop and showed them a video of the Phoenix Force controlling Jean Grey.

"She nearly destroyed Westchester......but what does this have to with us?" Marcos asked.

"The Phoenix Force was sealed into a special rock but it came back and Anya accidentally came in contact with the rock so Professor Xavier and my mother were able to seal it away in Anya's mind but only for so long," Nate revealed.

"The Phoenix Force becomes corrupted by our emotions which is what happened to Jean Grey, making her the Dark Phoenix but Anya is stronger than both Jean Grey and the Professor so the Phoenix Force has chosen her as the new host," John added.

"Apparently, the nightmare I had that nearly destroyed the place was a sign that the Phoenix Force is breaking free so I can't go on any missions with you guys.......I can't risk the chance of becoming Dark Phoenix and hurting the people who matter to me," I said.

"What if we can get some telepaths to help fix this," Clarice suggested.

"We should return the favor after taking me and sending me away from my kid," Marcos smirked.

"They won't do it willingly, you know," Reed mentioned.

"We're not going to ask politely," Nate said.

"Let's do this," John said.

"Marcos, can I talk to you please?" I asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"In private...."

We went walking to a diner so we could talk and I was going to ask a favor from him.

"What's going on, Anya?" Marcos asked.

"If things go wrong and I actually become the Dark Phoenix, I need you to kill me.......Nate will never do it and neither would Lorna or Eric but I know you will do what is necessary for our survival," I said.

"No, no, Lorna would never forgive me if I did that to you," Marcos said.

"Ever since the first nightmare I had, I've been writing letters just in case and one is for Lorna but you have to promise me that you will do what I asked of you," I begged.

"Anya, I can't take you away from Lorna.....I promise her that I would protect you," Marcos said.

"Marcos please......it's using my dead mother to let it out and I don't know how long I can fight back," I cried.

"I'm sorry.......I can't do it," Marcos said.
