Who Is She

Chapter 2: Lapis

(This chapter takes place one day before the first.)

(A/N:It's hard for me to start introduction chapters without waking someone up, so here's another one like that.)

I turn off my alarm almost before it goes off. Today will be my first day at my new school, Beach City High. Even though I'll mostly try to keep to myself, I'm still excited to go. Me and my family just moved here from Empire City. My dad got a job here after he got the promotion. Today we're gonna take a tour of the school.

I go to my closet to try and find something to wear. I grab a blue crop top and some black leggings. I know it's not really "inconspicuous" clothing, but it's what I like to wear. After I throw it all on I head downstairs.

When I get down there my mom has already finished breakfast. She made eggs and bacon. After eating and cleaning up breakfast we start to head to the school for the tour. The school is about a ten minute drive from my house.

When we finally get there, we are greeted by the principal, Mr. Dewey. He seems nice enough but his hair looks weird. Does he really think he can pull off a comb over?

I have to stifle a laugh so as not to seem rude. I guess I let a small smile through though, because he seemed to get a little annoyed. It's understandable, since he probably has to deal with that a lot.

We start the tour. He shows us where the cafeteria, gym, and all of my classes are. On the way back to the main office, someone catches my eye.

What caught my eye was her hair. It was in a kind of triangle shape, which I found quite interesting. She turns the corner, and I quickly duck into the principal's office. My mom notices that I had lagged behind a little, but doesn't say anything.

"Well, how did you like our school, Lapis?" Principal Dewey asked me.

"It's a nice school, I'm excited to go here." I respond.

"I hope to see you do well here."

We said our goodbyes and left to go back home.

After eating and cleaning up dinner I start to get ready for bed.After a fair bit of time trying to get my thoughts to calm down, I slowly drift off to sleep, and the next day comes quick as a whip.

I stood in front of the school, almost deciding not to go in. What am I doing, this isn't a movie, I think to myself. I walk through the doors and start making my way to my classroom.

While walking, somebody rushes past me in the hallway. I see it's the same girl I saw yesterday. She's shorter than I thought she was, but she's moving quickly without a problem. This made me realize that I'm walking slowly and pick up my pace.

Thanks to the tour from yesterday, I have no trouble finding my classroom. Room 105, English with Ms. Donovan. I enter the class room a little before the bell rings, which I am thankful for. Now I don't have to stand around awkwardly with nothing to do.

When the bell rings, the teacher stands up and starts taking attendance. After she's done, she tells the class that they have a new student and for me to introduce myself. I haven't even looked at the rest of the class yet, and when I do, I immediately spot the triangle haired girl sitting in the back. What are the chances we end up in the same class? She has her earbuds in and doesn't seem to care about the class.

"Hello everybody, my name is Lapis Lazuli, and I just transferred from Gem Academy. Yeah, that's about it."

I quickly take a seat in the back of the class, as to try not to attract attention. I ended up sitting across the room from Triangle Girl.

In the middle of my introduction I saw her look beside me and immediately take her earbuds out. I guess she got a glare from the teacher.

Paying attention during class wasn't very hard, as english is my favorite subject. I did, however, scan the room to get a feel for it. While doing this, my eyes landed on Triangle Girl, and it turns out she was staring. She quickly looked away and so did I.

I wonder why she was staring at me like that?

I went through the rest of the day without much incident, finding out that I have three more classes with Triangle Girl. Maybe I should introduce myself at some point, seeing as we'll be around each other so much.

A/N: Holy shit guys, I finally finished the second chapter. I know, I can't believe it myself. It's been, what, a year since the first chapter came out? I'm not sure, but it's been a while. If you haven't read the previous chapter recently, (like, today) I heavily edited it to make it easier to read and put a few other notes in it.

I guess that's all for now. See ya next chapter (hopefully not in another year).
