Chapter 8

Jay's POV
I arrive to the precinct and made my way up to Intelligence. I scan my hand in but the door won't budge. I scan it a second time and it still won't open. I head over to the desk where Platt was.

"Why isn't my hand print working?" I asked

"Voight told me to lock you out" said Platt

"This is bull. Open it up" I said

"Sorry, I can't do that" said Platt

"Unbelievable!" I said as I stormed out the precinct and made my way back to the med

Once I got to med, I made my way up to the waiting room where the team, Matt, and Kelly were waiting. I made my way towards Voight.

"What the hell Voight!" I said

"It's for your own good. I'm not letting you ruin this case. You should've stayed away when I told you to, but no you had to step in" said Voight

"If I didn't step in, she would be dead right now" I said

"You don't know that. We got a great team here" said Antonio

"Whatever" I said

Will comes out with a clipboard. We all turn our attention towards him.

"How is she?" Matt asked

"Surgery went well. She had a massive bleed in her head but Dr. Rhodes was able to stop the bleed and repair it. Now we just have to wait for her to wake up" said Will

"Thanks man" I said hugging him

We all sigh in relief and went back to waiting.

—2 hours later—

We waited for a few hours until Will came back out.

"Hey guys, she's awake. You can come in now" said Will

We all walked into the room and there she was. Nat was unhooking the tubes and adjusting the monitors.

"Hey Valerie, can you hear me?" Nat asked

"Yeah" said Val nodding her head gently

"Can you tell me who is in the room with you" said Will

"Yeah. That's Matt and Kelly. That's Hank, Erin, Antonio, Adam, Kim, Kevin, and Jay" said Val

"Terrific. How's her vitals?" Will asked

"Their all looking good. You should be able to leave in a few days" said Nat

"Thanks so much Will and Natalie" said Val

"We're always here to help. We're glad you're okay" said Will

"We'll leave you guys here and get back to work" said Will before leaving with Nat

"Can we have our privacy for a sec" I asked everyone

"Let's step out" said Voight

I close the room door and head over to Val's side.

"How you feeling" I asked

"In a lot of pain" Val whispers

"I don't know what I would do if you're not here" I said grabbing her hand

"Well I'm here aren't I"

"Do you think we can work this out?"

"I don't want to talk about it right now Jay. I just want to rest"

"Alright, I'll leave you alone"

I get up and walk out of the room. This was where I saw Matt signing papers.
