Chapter 16 - Distraction

Chapter 16.

I'm waiting for the taxi to pick me up, it should already have Danielle and Melissa in, I'm the last stop. As soon as I got to the car at the airport, I already had a text off Luke saying he missed me already and to be good and he loves me, I text him back saying to have the time of his life, I missed him already and I loved him lots too. Now I wouldn't hear from him till about this time tomorrow unfortunately but I wasn't going to dwell, I'd made this decision and I'd go over as soon as I could.

I hear the taxi beep, I give Rose and Jim and hug, "Have a good time tonight love, you deserve it!" Jim grins, "Yes you do and you look so beautiful, have fun" Rose joins in, "see you in the morning."

I walk over to the taxi in my tan heels and I'm wearing a green backless dress, my hair curly.

"Hi girls" I smile, as I slide in next to them.

"Hey Kayla" they say at the same time.

"Wow you look good, I thought you'd be a wreck!" Danielle laughs.

"I was today, but I'm fine, I had a nap" I giggle.

"Good, because we're going to take your mind off it tonight and show you a good night!" Mel smiles.

I love these girls, I worked with them on a shoot and they're as down to earth as I am and I get on with them so well. They've got beauty and brains, I've met some girls that are majorly stuck up, and I hate that in a person but these two I just gelled with, they even met Luke once when me and the girls had gone for lunch and a few drinks after a shoot one day, Luke had picked me up. They thought he was a cutie and I'd basically told them my life story and they'd told me theirs but they knew about all the cute stuff Luke has done for me, they loved him.

We pull up outside the club and pay the taxi driver, we get out and smooth our dresses down.

"Kayla?" I hear someone shout, I turn round and Mark's on the door of the club.

I walk over to him and give him a hug, the girls follow.

"What are you doing here?" he asks.

"Obviously on a night out" I laugh, "Are you a bouncer here?"

He flexes his arm showing his muscle, "Course I am!" he laughs, "Right, go straight in, cut the line" he grins.

"Thank you! See you later?" I say walking in.

"Thanks" the girls chorus.

We head to the bar, we do a round of shots and get a drink then go to the dance floor, after a couple more drinks and lots of dancing our feet start to hurt so we find a booth to sit in. A couple of guys sit down with us bringing with them a bottle of vodka and mixers, they introduce themselves and we have a laugh. Danielle starts kissing one and me and Mel look at each other trying to talk to the guys friends, the one next to me tries putting his arm around me, I show him my ring and he backs off a bit. I know me and Luke are on a 'break' but I still can't even look at another guy like that, I look at Mel and she's got a face on her, I look at her confused and she grabs my arm and takes me to the toilet.

"Are you okay?" I ask, eyeing her as she redoes her hair in the mirror.

"Dan is out there" she shakes her head.

"Dan?" I repeat, remembering that she told me she'd been through a horrible break up with another model called Dan. They'd met at a shoot and really hit it off, she fell for him hard then overheard some other girls on a shoot talking about him, it turns out he was dating several people. I give her a hug.

"Yep you know the one" she hugs me back.

"Okay so here's what we're going to do, leave Dani with her new fella for a while, get some more shots and drinks, and dance and show him that you've moved on and are looking stunning!" I smile as she stands up straight and checks herself out in the mirror, "and if that doesn't work, I'll get Mark to kick him out" I laugh.
