My name is Henry Morrow and i had been recruited into the army during world war three in 2020. Back then it was the worst time to be a newly recruited soldier since we were put in the field immediately. I remember the sleepless nights, the images that haunted my mind everyday. I began to become accustomed to seeing horrific things on the field.
I had been in the field only twice yet it felt like i was there dozens of times, since you could die at any moment, but i hated to admit i loved the adrenaline. Ben Michaels my associate and mentor who people called the chameleon cause he was always able to hide in plain sight, would always laugh in the face of fear run into danger. We loved each other as if we were brothers, i had always dreaded the day i would have to see his lifeless body, the thoughts always seemed to linger in my mind before a battle which always destracted me at times but i knew he could handle himself.
I eventually learnt the ropes of the whole army thing and i felt as if i was untouchable. I felt it was weird for me to say everything was going well for me considering the worlds' situation, but i always saw myself saying it. But my happiness was short lived as we came across a threat bigger than the war.
One morning i woke up to check up on the other soldiers in the medical aid tents and to my horror found them all dead. I alerted everyone in the barricks and called the CDC to quarentine the area and investigate what excatly had killed them because they had decayed overnight which was pretty unsual. Once i saw what had happened i immediately regretted joing the army but Ben as usual did not seem bothered at all that a disease was lingering around our barricks.
The disease was one they had never come across in all their work experience. They called it the decompostion virus but i liked to call it the armageddon virus. The CDC examined the corpses and ran tests on them. They concluded the disease bacteria would make its way into the bloodstream through an open wound, shut down all vital organs and would decompose the body. Oddly all the vital organs would shut down except for the brain. As a result we decided to end the war the best way we could without fighting which was to plead for a cease fire with the other countries. Unfortunately they declined the cease fire stating it was a way of jumping ship since we were losing.
As a result more deaths began to occur in not only our country but in the other countries. The world was in complete chaos as the virus spread more and more at a faster rate. The World Health Organisation decieded to put their minds together and come up with a cure, they attempted countless times. The world was now on the verge of total destruction, when an unknown scientist was able to find the cure saving millions of people, although no one knew who he was everyone called him the '
A little over one seventh of the whole worlds' population was deceased thus everyone always said the human race had eacaped extinction. But the human races' greatest threat to extinction was right around the corner.
