"It wasn't "

-long dramatic pause-

"It still isn't over-

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! ", I crashed helplessly into my mountain of pillows, the love of my life just declared our feelings are still strong.

I clapped my hands onto my cheeks, kicking my limbs like a toddler having a tantrum, my cheeks began to heat up.

"Mei!" Sarah was frantic as she barged through my door

"For crying out loud child" with her hand over her chest panting loudly

"Oh hey Sarah" as I paused my laptop of the movie Note Book, I silently prayed she wouldn't give me a prep talk.

"I should have known you were just watching nonsense"

"This is not nonsense" I declared, she shook her head at me, making a ticking noise with her mouth in sync.

I mentally face palmed, great cue in prep talk time. Groaning loudly in the process, I mimed a quiet

'I'll be back my love', patting the top of my laptop as I sat upright on my bed

"I was just admiring the feeling shared between people" reassuring Sarah

Sarah gave me the 'don't bullshit me' look, for an old and fragile woman her size she still made me squirm.

I saw her small frame make her way to my natural plain block out curtains. It didn't hit me at first, but before I could cry out bloody murder and scramble she hauled the fabric to each side.

I felt blinded, the light hit every corner of my room. I started to make the noises you hear Vampires make when they fear the sunlight.

"I'm melting, i-i-im melting",

My body becoming limp on the floor, then twitching my body to the side with my tongue out to the side.

I could hear Sarah making the clicking noise with her teeth and tongue from me

"We leave in 20 minutes, if your not ready your catching a bus" warned Sarah, pointing a red nail towards me.

My mouth wide open, from shock at my mother abandoning her only child to fend for herself.

"Close your mouth, or you catch flies", immediately shutting my mouth but making chattering noises,

"Om, nom, nom, nom" I chimed,

"Ugh I don't know who you take after, because it definitely ain't me", Sarah huffed and slammed the door after her and then called out to me again. After me thinking I was finally alone to recollect my thoughts.

"20 Minutes Mei !",

"I heard you the first time, sheesh !", I screamed back,

"Did you scream at me you little shit ?!",

"No, why would I do such a thing " I called out, half lying

"I'm grabbing the keys now !" Sarah blared,

I left my room in a sty and popped on my pink outfit, as that was the easiest to get on within 5 minutes after a quick wash in the shower. The pink dress complimented my pale complexion and my hair hung snug to my hips. I quickly brushed my teeth in my own bathroom, sprayed perfume and put on some deodorant because even though it's winter, your girl here be sweating like it's summer holiday.

I did a once over in my tall mirror, I'm missing something I thought.

"Hurry up crippled, people gotta get to work !", shouted out Sarah.

The audacity of this woman I swear,
"Hold your horses old lady, remember I'm still working on leg day", I retorted back. I then realised lip balm and a bit of mascara, I popped those on and I satisfied with how I looked.

Looking fresh, making sure I sniffed myself, also satisfied I was ready.

Ready, I prepped as I maneuvered myself with my crutches to the door where Sarah stood counting down and then I continued on to the car.

"So close kid, what took you so long?" Sarah whined,

"Beauty is an art, it's  a process that can not be rushed", I motioned with my hands. Sarah not half bothered with my antics, hurried me a long to the car. I prepped myself in and mentally kicked myself for moving too quickly, causing my knee to hurt a bit as I winced from the slight pain I gave myself.

...

"Are you sure, you don't need me to carry anything for you?"

"No Sarah",

"Are you absolutely sure?"

"Yes Sarah"

"I can-"

"Really, it's fine, I can do this" I say with a fake smile

Sarah returned my smile, I then looked over my shoulder and then back at her small frame waiting in the starting vehicle.

"Thank you"

Sarah looked at me a bit surprised by my response, she then smiled once more before saying I was welcome, as I closed the door of her lime green mini.

She tooted her horn and was off to her art classes. Sometimes Sarahs pestering was almost enough to send me over the edge. But I was genuinely thankful for her offering to drop me off on my first day back to Senior Year of high school.

Since my injury last year, I was fortunate enough to be able to complete my assignments while in the hospital. I steadied my crutches in either hand.

I was still not yet used to using my arms to move around, I barely had enough upper strength to do a push up. As I balanced myself, I made my way towards the School building.

...

"Mei Summersons" I repeated for the fifth time

"Just a second looking up your details once more" said Jane the little old office lady. Her glasses peered over her computer screen, clearly technology wasn't her best strength of the job.

"Ahhh here you are" she chimed

I saw her retreating figure wander to the back, then making her way back with files of documents in her hands.

I nodded in response, I tucked the documents into my back pack, she then handed me another form with my class timetable.

"Your class is in E3 down that hall on the right, would you need me to show you ? ",

"No I should be good from here thanks",

I then carried on following her directions and instantly regretted trying to carry my stuff and my own weight on my crutches.

Shit, I might fall over I mentally laughed at myself.

As I got closer to my class, I looked at the time. I was happy that I wasn't late, and readied myself waiting for the lecturer to then let us inside.
