i stormed off into the woods. not looking back. not caring enough to face the boy i've loved since our first days at camp. not caring where i was going as long as it was somewhere max wasn't. i soon ended up at the cliff. the one thing holding me back from my near death was my love. i take out my locket i have with max's picture in it. i hold it tight not wanting to let go of the heart shaped locket. just do it you idiot! just fucking jump! oh how i wanted to jump. how i wanted to end it all. i sigh. the one thing holding me back is the little made up red string on my fingers..

"neil?"

there is that sweet voice. the voice that calms me down on the harshest of days. the voice that i yearn to hear when i wake up. i turn around to be faced with max. he looks worried, sad and confused. "why are you here." i said.

"i called it off with preston. i know that was the thing that upset you.."

i was quiet. he did that for me.. my face went red as i looked at him.

"you didn't have to do that"

"yes i did"

"and why do you say that maxwell"

" because i know you like me.. neil i'm not stupid and you're not that good at keeping your feelings in..."

"well know you know maxwell good job.. cmon i'm ready for the names"

" no neil" he takes a seat next to me "why would i call you names you are my best friend.. and i don't know where i would be without you.." he smiles at me.

i feel like kissing him. god how much i do. but that wouldn't be right..

"well anyway i need your help.. i want to ask this guy out and i need to know what to say to him.." max says. " he is very self conscious and he doesn't love himself a lot so what should i tell him."

" hm.. just tell him the greatest gift can come in the blandest box.. if he says why you choose him that is.."

max looks at me and chuckles.

" well neil will you go out with me..?"

i paused as a smile made its way to my face"

"hell yes!"
