I sat on the balcony of the condo staring out at the ocean when I felt Craig walk up behind me kissing the top of my head before sitting next to me, handing me a coffee. The way the sun was kissing his skin was something next level. I had often wondered to myself how the two of us were even together. Half the time we were from different worlds, his from a life of crime and drugs. I on the other hand, money and career. Though to be incredibly honest I think it worked for us, we humbled each other.
"You know, the way the sun hits your skin... it really makes me wish I could fuck you out here." Craig told me as he lit up a smoke.
"Wow, baby that was almost romantic." I told him with a soft laugh before taking a sip of my coffee, "Did you sweeten this with chocolate?" I asked him quickly as he nodded.
"Yea, I kind of forgot where the sugar was. I did however remember were that weird chocolate glaze stuff was." He told me with a cheeky grin as I just shook my head, "It's sweet as hell but, honestly the fact that you messed it up makes it taste all the better." I told him as he just started to laugh.
"I wanted to talk to you about the whole church job." He said his voice growing serious. "What about it?" I asked him.
"Honestly don't think we should get involved, the chance that the money is in traceable checks or something not cash... it's risky."
I just nodded, "Alright we'll sit this one out then. We can head off to Vegas or something." I told him with a shrug. "Craig, I already told you. My dad keeps giving me money, we don't need to do these silly jobs."
He shrugged, "Yea, I know but Deran needs the cash and since he refuses to take your offer... I want to do it for him and the thrill..." He told me.
"Then we sit out the church gig, and start setting up for the yacht. Babe, there are other jobs and if they give me the money to split I'll toss him extra to help him with the bar." I smiled to him, "Where is your dad getting the cash from anyway?" He asked me.
"Inheritance from a wife that passed. His way of making it up to my brothers and I." I told him with a smile as he shook his head. "You know what, fuck this Church shit... we have a wedding to plan. Something small and simple but something very... us." He grinned.
"So, at Deran's bar then a huge dinner at Smurfs?" I laughed.
"I was thinking the Pier. You know the spot where we used to always go to meet when we were younger, place I asked you out, and the place I asked you to marry me." He smile. "Pretty sure you asked me to marry you in bed." I stuck out my tongue.
"Whatever specifics don't matter... why not that spot though? My family, your family... few mutual and close friends?" He suggested. "I'd like that..." I told him as he moved closer to kiss me when his phone went off.
"Your family has impeccable timing." I rolled my eyes stealing a quick peck as he put the phone to his ear.
"What? Wait... hold up, slow down. What happened?" Craig asked before his eyes grew wide, "How the fuck does that even happen? Deran hadn't even moved in yet how the hell could it be on fire?" He said as I nearly spit up my coffee.
