Find me as I disappear

That day in winter when I ran away from my duties as the princess when I was 15 years old and disappeared was a day I will never forget because it was all for the sake of figuring out if the boy I had a crush on liked me back. The only thing I left for him was a letter in his bedroom with two simple words written on it "Find Me".

"Xavier we can't find princess Mia anywhere!" said one of the maids crying.

"Look harder then!" shouted Xavier in anger.

"Where could you be Mia?" he thought as he clenched his right fist trying to hold back his tears.

Xavier was 16 years old at the time always helped out at the castle and was my best friend, my only friend. I realised that I had a crush on him after I got to know him better. His sweet personality, his kind and comforting words, the way that he looked at me. Everything about him was perfect to me, but my father the king hated him. He saw him as a weak unreliable boy who can't do anything to help out the kingdom, "a worthless fool" is what he called Xavier.

Xavier went to his bedroom to check if I was there and found the letter I left for him on the desk.

"This is from Mia!" exclaimed Xavier with a smile as he opened my letter.

"Find Me?" Xavier questioned as he read it.

The realization that I had run away hit him like an arrow as he remembered our conversation from the previous day. I had asked him if I ran away what would he do?. His reply was quick, he said that no matter where I was he would always be by my side. It made my heart flatter but he then added that it's only right to do so because I was his best friend. I had gotten friend-zoned on that day and my heart couldn't take it because I realized that he only liked me as a friend.

"She ran away!?" thought Xavier.

Xavier then took the letter and his coat and ran out of the castle. He went to the nearby stable and paid to borrow a horse. Xavier was very good at horse riding but didn't like showing off his skills. He quickly got on the horse and went into the forest where I had told him I wanted to explore a few months back.

The weather was getting colder and colder by the minute. I had taken a coat with me but it was not that warm and I wouldn't last long outside so I tried making a fire with some twigs that had fallen down from the trees and by some amazing luck I succeeded in creating a small campfire.

"Mia where are you!?" Xavier shouted as he rode around the forest on his horse trying to find me.

Xavier's heart was beating faster an faster as he thought that he might never see me again.

There's a famous saying "You don't realise you love her until you let her go". And that was exactly what Xavier was going through at that time.

"Mia if you can hear me!..." Xavier shouted and paused as if he was hesitating.

And then he said the three words I always wanted to hear

"I LOVE YOU!" shouted Xavier expressing his true feelings for me

Not even a minute later he found where I was, quickly got off his horse with tears in his eyes, and held me in his arms. His feelings pouring out and making it visible for me to realise that he truly loved me as much as I loved him. I hugged him back and whispered in his ear "You found me" with a smile.

15 years have passed since then and now we have gotten married and have two beautiful little twin girls named Kim and Ella that just can't stop asking me to tell them the story of how I met their daddy Xavier as a bedtime story every single night. They never get tired of it. 

My father eventually accepted Xavier as part of the family and loves playing with Kim and Ella every now and then when he isn't too busy.

Xavier and I love each other very much and we love our two girls even more than the world.

If I hadn't run away back then would things still be the same now?
