"If you look at them from this angle, they could be the couple of the year, don't you think?"
Olivia stopped absentmindedly picking at her nails, and looked at Jackson. "With the sun set where it is, shining down upon them as if they were the chosen one's handpicked by God?" She smiled. "Just grab your camera."
"I wish you could be a little more sympathetic with my situation here, Olivia. When you're a photographer on the school's yearbook committee, you are the camera, and your eyes the lens. Everything you see must be seen with the gaze of an artist, waiting to snapshot the perfect moment. Candid images is what I need."
"Whenever you're done preaching at me about the 'gaze of artistry' you might want to take a picture, because I think your perfect couple is about to leave campus."
An unnatural squeal escaped Jackson's pierced lips, and he hurried to snap a dozen shots. Olivia stayed silent and watched her friend with a smirk on her face. He was always like this, always looking for a golden opportunity, a perfect shot. She had always thought it might be nice to view things like that. As if the world was your canvas, and you the painter. Jackson was always making his mark on the world, and she was jealous of that.
"I think I really captured their perfection in this one." Jackson shoved his camera in her face, satisfied.
Jackson was right. Dolly Decker and her man of the hour, Greyson Little, did look perfect. Her black hair was shining, and her smile wide and bright. Greyson had his arm looped around her waist, and his head was thrown back, laughing at something Dolly has said. They were the most well known couple at St. Joeseph's high. Mainly because Dolly was the most well known girl, and every new boy toy she found was the new most well known guy.
"It looks great. I don't even think Queen Decker and her pet could complain about it." Jackson went on to say, looking at Olivia impatiently, awaiting her opinion.
She smiled at him, handing the camera back. "It's fine. Since when do you care about people's opinions, anyway?"
"I only care about yours."
"Because mine is the only one worth having, and I say it look's fine. To hell with what Dolly Decker thinks." Olivia waved her hand with dramatic flourish.
"Why would Dolly's thoughts need to go off to hell?" A new voice said. Behind them was Dolly, looking confused, and Greyson, looking angry.
Jackson focused his attention on picking at the rubber soles of his sneakers, zoning out, and ignoring the accusing glare of Greyson. Olivia sighed, patted Jackson's shoulder, then turned to Greyson. "The only thoughts of Dolly's that would need to take a trip to hell would be the negative ones she might think of some pictures that Jackson here took of you two."
"Isn't it, like, illegal to take pictures of someone without their consent?" Dolly asked, looping her arm through Greyson's.
"I'm on the yearbook committee. And I was just taking pictures of the candidates for the senior class's best couple." Jackson said, finally finding his voice.
"Oh!" Dolly gasped, releasing Greyson and lunging for the camera. "Can I see?"
Olivia heard Jackson mumble something about smudged camera lenses, but he showed her the pictures. Dolly grabbed the camera and was studying them intently when Olivia heard Greyson.
"It still isn't cool to take pictures of someone without their consent."
"Well, neither of us thought you two would mind." Olivia shrugged.
"Why wouldn't we?"
"Don't you two have screaming fans begging to take your picture whereever you go?"
