It was 8:57 pm almost closing time at the diner. Kate was cleaning the counters when the bell above the doors rang. Looking up, Kate smiles as she sees the boys "it's been a while since you boys stopped by, where have you been? And you're lucky I like you two, or I would kick you out since it's about to be closing time" Kate chuckled.
Sam and dean walked in, dean entering first and standing in front of the younger Winchester, he turned to his brother and smiled "ya hear that Sammy, she likes us!" He shot Kate his classic smirk and took a seat at the counter in front of her, Sam rolled his eyes from the cheesy remark and followed behind, sighing as he sat next to dean,
Kate smiled, "how could I not? Now, what can I get you two? Wait, let me guess. Dean, you'd like the burger with fries in it, and for you Sam, something healthy like a salad?" she sighed.
The boys had passed through Maple County for a while now, always ending up at the diner, she knew about their job, and when they passed through Kate would tell them about potential cases
Sam smiles "you know us so well, though dean-" he turned to his brother "should be watching his cholesterol.." Sam said with a jokingly passive aggressive tone to his voice dean gave a sarcastically hurt look to his brother "I am Sammy...I'm watching it go up" dean laughed again as he nodded confirming their order of food to Kate.
"So-" Sam butted in "anything our kind of weird nearby lately?"
"Define weird Samuel-" she knew calling him that, got on his nerves "the locals are all weird, but case worthy? Yeah actually. There have been recent deaths, see there is this local legend, about a creature who feasts on fear. I forget its name but all victims seemed to have been scared to death, about 5 death this week." Kate said looking concerned.
"Yeah I'd say that counts as pretty freak'n weird" dean said, taking a toothpick from the little jar and chewing on the end of it. Sam was thinking about the case while dean was more focused on being a flirt as usual, "wait, we've dealt with something similar dean, remember when you got ghost disease" dean just sighed defeated, "Sam, we can worry about it later, loosen up have a little fun every once and a while" dean nudged Sam's shoulder. Then turned back to Kate.
"Well we would be happy to look into it!" He winked.
Kate let out a small laugh "a-anyway, let me get your food" she said blushing
"Ooh-and a beer too!" Dean added as he smiled at her, then he turned to his brother "make it two- Sam added" the two boys conversed about the new case laid out in front of them,
As Kate sauntered back to the boys, she placed the tray of food on the table. "there you go. A salad for Sam, burger for Dean, and beer for both. (add more here) You know, you always come by right as we are about close." she smirked at them. Well more at dean.
"and ghost disease? What's that?" Kate tilted her head in confusion
"Well I'd be happy to finish this lovely meal at your place," dean winked while making a clicking noise with his tongue, he begat eating, "ah oh- ghost disease, better known amongst hunters as ghost sickness Ghost sickness is spread by a specific class of spirit known as the buruburu. First, one must have physical contact with the ghost's body or the body of a ghost sickness victim. Second, one must share a specific personality trait with the original killer of the Buruburu. As a result, not everyone who comes into contact with a buruburu or someone with ghost sickness is susceptible to the virus."
Sam took a breath after finishing his long winded speech, he began to munch his salad as he watched for her response
"Okay, but what does it do to the person? And if you two plan on staying in town, I do have a spare room at my house" she said sweetly, smiling at the both of them, "then you two could teach me some ghostly stuff" Kate said
