a/n: this was written to make me feel better about how "Call Me By Your Name" ended. A time skip can be found because I didn't want to copy the full ending. It's short yes but I think that allows some imagination. Enjoy.
Elio watched the train and his lover leave with sorrow and tears falling from his eyes. His round, pink, cheeks were doused and his eyes stung. He wandered to a nearby bench and sat down like he was being anchored to the metal by the strong magnetic pull in his heart. The thought of being in a state of melancholy forever frightened him. Was that his only chance at pure happiness or would time present him with those feelings again. As Elio contemplated life without Oliver, the occasional person would ask him if he was alright and his response was always the same, "Yes," with a forced smile. Eventually he couldn't take it anymore and composed himself enough to go and find the payphone. He dialled his mother and waited patiently for her to answer. Breathing in deeply and out slowly he let his eyes close for a second as someone answered on the other end, "Maman... Bonjour. Oui, je vais bien. Je suis à Clusone, à la gare. Oui... il est parti." (Mom... Hey. Yes, I'm fine. I'm in Clusone, at the station. Yes... he left.) He said quietly into the phone, "Maman, s'il te plait, tu pourrais venir me chercher?" (Mom, please could you come and pick me up?) He began to cry and choke on his words again as he spoke. He situated his forehead against the wall of the phone booth and let the tears fall again.
Time Skip
Time had passed quickly for Elio for he tried so hard to be happy. Going out with friends like he normally would, although when the snow started to fall it had prevented him from doing so almost everyday. He walked up to the front door after getting back from errand his mother had asked him to run. Removing his hat, scarf, and coat, he walked down the hall with his headphones still on and his music playing softly. He heard his father talking with his mother as they discussed the new grad student for next summer, a young woman this time. Elio couldn't help but feel a slight sting in his heart as he remembered Oliver and the chemistry they shared. He walked slowly passed the room and plopped down on an armchair. He tilted his head back when he heard silence come from his parents and the face he saw was a face he never expected to see again. Elio had jumped up and stumbled slightly to his feet in surprise and awe meanwhile, Oliver laughed slightly before whispering, "Hello... Oliver."
Elio breathed in and out slowly as a blush creeped onto his rounded cheeks before replying,
"Hello... Elio~"
