The next morning I was waking up to the sound of my phone vibrating. I groaned and pulled the cold phone out from under my pillow. I was momentarily blinded by the bright light radiating from the phone.

I squinted my eyes and turned my brightness down all of the ways. The first thing I noticed was the time. It was 5:24 in the morning and the sun wasn't even peaking above the horizon yet.

Who the hell is texting me this early in the morning?

I scrolled past the useless social media notifications and found who texted me.

I rubbed my eyes and reread the name twice to make sure I read it correctly.

It was Sean. At five in the freaking morning.

Sean: Hey, Anne. I was wondering if you'd like to hang out tonight.

Me: Sure. What'd you want to do?

I sat there and stared at my phone as I watched the three bubbles move.

Sean: Would you want to go bowling? It's been ages since I've gone.

Me: Sure. Why not?

I sat and watched the bubbles move again. Waiting for him to reply. He was never good at replying quickly.

Sean: Great! I'll pick you up around 7.

Me: See you then.

I stared at the brief conversation we just had. That's what it seems like our relationship has existed of for the past couple of years. But I couldn't help but smile thinking about getting to hang out with him again after years of not really talking.

I laid on my back and looked up at the ceiling. My hair was sprawled all around me and I couldn't help but think of what has already happened this school year.

It's only been two months into the school year and I've already had many things happen to me that I'll never forget. The boys. Jake. Sophie. My mom. Sean.

I thought about the pain and the happiness that everyone has gone through in just such a short period of time.

I missed looking into the boy's eyes as they smiled. I miss when my mom wasn't drinking. With Sean, I miss when we use to be best friends. With Sophie, I miss when her parents didn't fight and they were a happy family. But with Jake, I would've never thought that would happen.

I slowly reached under my pillow again and pulled out my phone. I dialed the ten digit number and listened to the rings.

On the fifth ring, there was an answer.

"Hey, what's going on?" Jake asked in a raspy voice.

I smiled as I looked up at the ceiling, "Nothing, I just really wanted to talk to you."

I heard him laugh on the other end. "Miss me already?"

I smiled and answered, "Maybe."

For a minute we both just sat there and listened to each other's breathing.

"Do you want to go get breakfast?" I asked him, wondering what his answer would be.

It took him a second to answer, "Yeah. I'd love to," he paused for a quick second, "I'll be there in 20 minutes."

I smiled and knew it was obvious in my voice, "Good. I'll see you then."

I could hear him smile back as he said, "See you then."

Quickly getting out of bed, I had to walk around the tossed clothes like a maze before I could get to the bathroom.

I brushed my teeth and attempted to tame my wild hair. I quickly tossed on a sweatshirt and jean shorts.
