Chapter Two

Katrina's POV

"I can't believe I let you make me do this" I say to Sam as we walk up the last steps to the University Center. We reach the doors and I hold it open as Sam walks in.

"Oh, come on! Loosen up, will you? It's a good thing we are doing this, we must try to get to know the campus and the people here. Otherwise both of us will be stuck knowing nobody for the next 4 years". Sam reasons.

I sigh before responding, "You're right, I'll try to have fun tonight. Just promise you won't leave me alone? You know how uncomfortable I get when I don't know anybody around me". She looks at me and opens her arms to hug me. I walk into her arms and hug her back quickly.

"Don't worry, you will have no trouble at all finding new friends. You're so smart, and very pretty too! Anybody would want to be your friend." She pulls away before looking me up and down one more time. "Not to mention, those jeans, boots, and cardigan are killer on you." She smirks before winking at me.

I blush and playfully slap her arm. "Well considering it was the only thing that I felt comfortable wearing that you tossed at me. I had to make it look good somehow."

"And you did well!" Sam compliments.

We continue walking down the halls of the University Center coming to a halt once we reach the community room where all the freshman students are meeting for a game night. We walk in and immediately claim a table as ours, right as two more people do the same.

"Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't think anybody would take this table" the tall blonde girl says.

"Oh no! It's totally fine, we can share! I mean after all this is a get together thing for us to meet others, right?" Sam smiles at them. "I'm Samantha Watson, by the way" She holds out her hand to shake theirs. "This is Katrina Thomson, she's very shy so pardon her". The other two chuckle as my face heats up in embarrassment.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Anthony Carter, and this right here is my cousin, Alyssa Smith." The muscular redhead responds. Alyssa smiles.

"Are you guys from around here?" Alyssa asks while taking a seat across from Samantha, Anthony following suit, and placing himself across from me to the left of Alyssa. I look up and meet his gaze, letting a soft smile slip as he gives me a goofy grin.

"No, we are not! We come from Madison, Wisconsin. Katrina and I graduated high school together and decided we would both stay together and apply here."

"Oh, that's cool! Alyssa and I are from around here, if you'd like we can show you around the city sometime?" Anthony offers.

"Yeah that would be awesome! Katrina here is a photographer and absolutely loves the cities at night. I'm sure she would benefit." Sam wiggles her eyebrows at me. "Don't you think Katrina?"

"Yeah, that would be a great idea, I need to finish up my portfolio, so that would be extremely helpful." I respond, smiling.

"Why don't we dump this place and head out tonight? It's a Friday night, there are a ton of things happening. It would be perfect! Anthony is a photography major too, both of you could work together maybe?" Alyssa suggests.

"Hey, I'm up for it if you are Katie". Anthony smiles at me.

"Yeah, that sounds good!" I smile getting excited.

"Okay cool lets go. Oh, by the way. Is it alright if I call you Katie?" Anthony asks.

"Only if it's okay that I call you Tony" I tease.

"Of course, it is". Tony smiles back. We all get up and make our way back out to the front of the University Center.

"Can we stop back at mine and Sam's apartment? I've got to grab some more film for my camera." I ask. They all nod as we walk towards our apartment. On the way there we get to know each other a little better. Turns out Anthony is in his second year, and only went to the event tonight because Alyssa asked him to.
