I ran. It was all I could do, run. I stopped dead in my tracks. Did I hear a slight giggle? She whispered my name from the trees in the most blood curdling way. She stepped out of the dense forest, cradling a knife with an unforgettably chilling grimace. She gradually advanced towards me, her short hair dripping blood. My blood. She thrust her already soiled knife into my chest. Time stopped for a moment. I was losing blood, losing breath, losing life, losing hope. My last image in life was her, standing above me whispering ‘What a fun game! Too bad you’re so tired. At least you can have a little sleep now…’ then darkness.
