Aniya's POV
I had just pulled into the drive way next to mom's car. Mom had parked the moving truck on the side of the road since it was too big to fit in the drive. I looked over towards Corrine and Blake's house to see Blake getting out of his car and walking towards me and Corrine.
"So are we gonna get this over with?" Blake asked slightly annoyed as he reached us. I was leaning against my jeep just looking at him with my eyebrows raised. Sure I must admit he was decently attractive with his piercing blue eyes and dark brown hair, but, that didn't mean that I was going to swoon over him like every other girl in the school does. He doesn't have that kind of control on me like he does with those girls. I have known him since he came here and he has only ever acted like a complete and utter dick to me.
"Awe, does little Blakey have some whore he needs to attend to?" Corrine blurted out before I could say anything back. His face immediately turned a shade of pink and he started to glare at his sister.
"Enough you two. Let's get this over with." I interrupt their little staring match. Corrine smiles at me when she whips her head towards me while Blake just glares at me like he always does.
By this point my mom had the door of the moving truck opened and was just waiting for us to get over to help remove everything and bring it into the house. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and turned on my playlist so that we would have some kind of noise that wouldn't make things super awkward.
Two Hours Later
Two long hours had passed and we had everything unloaded from the truck and the boxes were strewn across the house in their respectful rooms. Corrine and I were laying lazily on the floor of the living room when my mom and Blake walked in. My mom shook her head at us right before she opened her mouth to speak, "I'm going to need you to follow me in your Jeep so that I can take the moving truck back. I'll be leaving in five minutes so get up. " With that she turned around and walked away.
Sitting up I looked over towards Blake with a confused look on my face. I wasn't entirely sure why he was still here as he had obviously wanted to leave earlier. He noticed my look and just stuck his tongue out at me. By this point in my life I knew that was a hint for me to stop looking at him. I turned my attention towards Corrine who was sitting up smiling down at her phone.
"Corri, who texted you know?" As much as I love her she is definitely the same as her brother when it comes to dating. She has everyone single boy in our grade wrapped around her little finger the only thing that is different is she actually dates them and not just hooks up with them.
"Noah did. He asked me to go get fro-yo with him." She smiles up at me. I knew this meant that she was going to ditch me to go out with him.
I had already started pouting when she stood up. Suddenly, Blake interjected his thoughts into the conversation. "I'll ride with you Niya. Since my loving sister here is ditching her best friend for a boy." My mouth was hanging wide open now as was Corrine's.
My mom had walked back into the room by this point and started gushing about how that was a wonderful idea and that I needed to let Corrine go have some fun without me. I knew there was no arguing so I just grabbed my phone, purse and keys and walked towards the door.
I hugged Corrine before she walked next door to tell her mom she was going out. Then turned to Blake with an unamused look on my face. Being stuck with him as my neighbor was enough, now I'll be stuck in a car with him. I turned away from Blake and started walking to the drivers side of my Jeep when I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I didn't think about checking it because really I didn't care at the moment who was texting me.
A few seconds after I got in the driver seat the passenger door opens and Blake climbs in. I see my mother motioning for me to follow her in my mirror so I start my jeep and put it in reverse.
We were maybe a block or so away from the truck rental place when Blake finally speaks up. "Niya, I know you heard me earlier before I left your old house. Why haven't you checked the text yet?" He asks quieter than he would normally talk.
"I don't know Blake, maybe because I'm sure its something that has to do with the last thing you had texted me." I blurt out rather harshly without taking my eyes off the road in front of me.
"Just please read it. I was an idiot to text you what I did when I found out you were moving in next door and I'm sorry that I did. I promise I won't make your life a living hell this year. I know things are going to be hard enough with you moving to a new house." He actually sounded kinda sincere when he said this but I wasn't going to let my guard down with him.
By now we had pulled into the lot where my mom was dropping off the moving truck so I put my Jeep in park and pulled out my phone. I had a couple snapchat notifications from Corrine so I opened those. The first was a picture of her outfit and the second was a picture of her fro-yo. She looked adorable and I was sure she was having an amazing time. I cleared the rest of the notifications that I had until the only one left was the text that I had from Blake.
I hadn't even noticed that he had gotten out of the passenger seat so that my mom could sit there until I looked up from my phone to look over at him and I didn't see him in the seat.
Against my better judgement I clicked on the text and read it. Almost immediately I turned my head around to look at Blake in the back seat. As soon as I did my mom opened the passenger door. "Aniya, we have to go get your brother and sister so lets go."
I took one last look at the text just to make sure that I had actually read it right....
