Chapter 01: Back on high alert

Los Angeles

December 19th 2014

Agent Johnson

Another busy day had passed and the light of the moon hung over the entire area. Myself and Agent Simmons both made our way back home after we were dropped off. Later that night we were laying in bed staring at the ceiling. A feeling of awkwardness loomed over both of us...that was until Simmons broke the silence.

"Michael?" Simmons asked.

"What's up?" I asked.

"You ever get the feeling we're about to stray into the storm once again?" Simmons asked.

"Now that you mention it...things with the International Confederacy seem to be dying out"I replied.

"I can't escape the feeling that something bad is about to happen and that the Confederacy are luring us into a false sense of victory" Simmons said shuddering slightly.

"If that's the case we justneed to remain vigilant Olivia" I said giving her a confident smile.

"Yeah" Simmons said smiling back.

"And once this storm passes...I guarantee that we'll be done for good" I said before returning my gaze to the ceiling.

"Goodnight Michael" Simmons said before she fell asleep.

"Goodnight Olivia" I said before I fell asleep.

The next day

Agent Johnson

It was the usual scene: we were in the training area doing what we needed to do. However, whilst we were keeping our skills honed I couldn't help but feel on edge about what Simmons said last night.

"Johnson? You OK?" Agent Andrews asked me.

"I'm fine" I replied.

"You don't seem like yourself"Michelle pointed out.

"How so?" I asked.

"You're acting quite distant and lost in thought" Agent Xavier replied.

"Is there something troubling you?" Agent Rogers asked.

"Just...a feeling" I replied.

"What do you mean?" Connie asked.

"I just feel...like something bad is going to happen" I replied.

"We have the International Confederacy on the run. If anything we'll have them beat any day now"Elaine said giving me a confident smile.

"I think it's within best interest if we keep sharp. Just because the pendulum is swinging in our favour doesn't mean it will remain that way" Rogers said.
