This has taken me way too long and I'm sorry. I've had no motivation to write before now.

Please tell me what you think and whether or not this story should continue.

Bulgaria 1490 - Josette's POV

Katerina is delivering a baby, my little sister struggles relentlessly as she squeezes my hand. Mother is helping her, trying to get Katerina to continue.

"A little more dearest, a little more. Push....a little more. A little more. A little more. Push!" Mama encourages her youngest daughter. I silently glare at the woman, pretending she cares about my sister is a cruel thing in this moment.

"I can't mama!" Katerina screams, falling back onto the pillow with deep breaths struggling to leave her lips. I keep my cool, letting her grip my hand until the bones are ready to snap.

I tighten my hold on my sister before leaning down, "Come on Katerina, just a little more and it'll all be over, I promise." I soothe my baby sister, earning a smile before a scream.

I squeeze her hand in reassurance. Katerina looks at me, tears in her eyes, before nodding. She pushes and screams. She delivers her baby. Mama takes it while our father watches, a sickening scowl on his face.

"It's a girl." Mother says, smiling down at the bundle. All I want to do is remove the child from her grip and give her to her actual mother.

Katerina smiles slightly and lets out a relieved sigh, "A girl. Please, mother, let me see her."

Mama moves towards us, ready to hold out the child. However, father stops her from doing so with a raised voice, "Woman, don't! What are you doing?"

Mama sends us an apologetic look before hanging the crying infant to her husband. Katerina helplessly holds her arms out to our father, "Let me at least hold her once...just once," She begs.

Father begins shouting, the cruelty of his actions not affecting him, "Forget it! You have disgraced this family." He leaves the room with the baby.

Katerina cries and screams."Father, please! No, father, no!" She tries to get up and go after him, her pleads breaking my heart by the second.

Mother rushes to her to keep her from getting up, "No Katerina, it's better for her! It's better for her!" Mother embraces her. Katerina is still crying.

I walk out of the room, going after father in a raging state. "Father! Come back, you coward!" I scream at him, lifting my dress to allow myself to run. I spot him near the door and I speed up, reaching him quickly, the baby isn't with him but I can still hear her crying in the house, "How could you do that?! Denying a woman the right of seeing her child!" I seethe at him.

He seems unfazed, which slightly concerns me, "Josetta, you must remember all I have done for you.  This is but payment for my services to you." He states calmly, making me confused.

I quirk my eyebrow at him, "What have you ever done for me?" I ask my voice barely above a whisper.

The low rage in my voice makes him cower back slightly, a sight that I can't help but smirk at while he explains himself, "I know what you are Josetta, a monster! If I didn't keep your secret, the town would certainly come after you and kill you."

That's when I snap. I use my strength and throw him against the wall, keeping him there by his throat. I let my eyes turn red and feel the purple veins underneath them, "I may look like a monster father, but your actions make you the devil." I snarl at him, fighting the smug smile as I watch his fear take over him.
