  [𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗗]

  ▪︎ I breathed heavily as we both run towards darkness, I couldn't quite see anything- but I felt that danger is coming, they're coming.

         I felt April's grasp of her hands against mine as she leads us to somewhere. “Do you know where you're going, April?” I whispered to her, she didn't reply for a minute. “No, I-I don't know but let's keep moving, okay?” She calmly answered. I look behind me to see that no one was there anymore, no blazing flashlights who were looking for us- are now out of sight.

         “Okay,” I nodded and followed her. I flicked away some branches and squinted my eyes to take a better look at what's ahead of me.

       Why do they have to look for us? April already gave them what they wanted in the first place. If giving them the code couldn't let me taste freedom, then giving them the flash drive wasn't important. So why bother?

     I opened my mouth to say something, or express my thoughts about all of this- but stopped when we heard something.

     April gasp and quickly grab my shoulders to forcefully ducked us, I covered my mouth to stop myself from breathing too much. Countless of footsteps soon followed. I want to cry, I was terrified of what'll happen if they caught us- would I be imprisoned in their basement once again? Or would they take away our lives?

      When I heard the footsteps begin to fade away, we quickly stood up and sprinted our way to God-knows-where, it doesn't matter where we'll end up, all that matters is- our freedom is on the line and I don't wanna lose it. I prayed and hoped that they wouldn't hear us, that we'll escape.

     “Ah, shit!” April half-whispered, as she abruptly halts. I looked at her, “What? What's wrong?”

     She breathed heavily and begin, her eyes glowed as the moon illuminated her orbs. “There must be some other way…” she said to herself as she dragged us both.
     
             “April, what?”

                         “There are 200 ft. Deep cliff, beside us. There's no fucking way this is the end. ” she stressed state. My heart dropped as the words escaped her mouth. I wanted to cry again, I felt hopeless.

       “fuck, what are we gonna do now?” I asked.

              “I don't know, Y/n…”

     “Let's just hide..” I trembly stated and begin to drag her to the bushes. My heart stammered briskly.

    As I sprinted, we heard something. I stopped on my tracks and let my instincts solve this. I swallowed the lump of my throat and took another step.

     Around us was just utter silence, the crickets chirped in the night as the moon illuminated us with its bright- yet dark light. All I see was the leaves, as it glistened on the light, the ground we stood on was pitch black- the wind whistled quietly as I took another step, dragging April behind me.

   But the feeling of something I once felt resurfaced. I must be crazy, or am I? I denied it, they're gone and we have to wait till daylight. Maybe, we won't make it till the sun comes. The unsettling feeling crept inside me- making my heart beat faster.

                    I felt being watched.

        There's no fucking way I'm just gonna let her get away after I had her in my palms.  The chances of losing her were eating me alive, it was stupid to force April to give me the code and exchange of Y/n. I wipe at my sweat as I fasten to drive the vehicle. I grip the steering wheel more firmly as I stare ahead with a great desire to swerve this van towards a pole and just die. But I can't, I can't let these guys die because of my selfishness.
