THE CHASE.
7.25pm
I felt a hot stenchy air against the back of my neck. Sweat drops greased my dirty palm and the sound of shaking grass as I ran through the tiny moist bush path, sang in horror. I couldn't help but notice the rhythmic movement of chest curving up and down impatiently. The rain splattered heavily, sloshing against my lower back. My shoulder blade was visibly shaped as it clung tightly against my torn t shirt stained with blood stain.Zap! A bullet flew past the tip of my ear bone, carrying the dusty wind along and it crashed against the clay rock above me, with a loud screeching noise which echoed through the swampy lake flooding away the mushrooms.
"Come back here" loud angry voices screamed into the rain.
I wasn't stopping. I had to hide somewhere. Anywhere. My eyes darted twice as fast in any direction possibly. Wet grasses slapped against my ankle as ran so fast. I quickly notice a dark stone cave, covered with bent bamboos and mud clumps. "Here would be safe, I told myself". No! I said again, contradicting my guts. I should keep running, maybe I could find a better place to hide.
I could feel the crack of my bones bending in different axis as it was pounding against the soaked wall of my skin. I leapt over a large fallen trees in front of me and my soaked hair moved flexibly in midair slapping against my neck and my hands was wide apart waiting for my feet to touch the ground. I felt a sharp pain on my toe as i landed into a tiny pool of whirling water. I whisked in agony and i began to hop through the moonless jungle with a leg up. I still kept running holding my breath inside my pumped jaws.
The thud of a thousand feet pounding towards me was so clear. They were close, but not close enough. Rays of torchlight moves in different angles, changing direction every second. I lowered my head as i sprinted through the thick bush, trying to avoid the bright light rays from exposing my lifeless image. I wiped away rain capsule from my eyes with the back of my hand. My feet was shaking with cold and my lips tasted like salt and blood.
Arrrgh! I wept tiredly as my leg struck against a hard rock. I stumbled out of the pathway towards my left. I was turning in swift circles and I landed my head against a wet log of wood. My face squashed against a mud clumps and a surge of water drops sprinkled into my eyes. My wet dark hair rubbed against the water clogged floor and I scraped my right ribs against moist soil. Tsssssssh, i suck air through my teeth while I was trying to calm the pain.
"What the fuck!" I cursed.
I was feeling nauseated and my sight was blurry with red hues;all I could see was heavy muscled shadows sprinting towards my location. I moaned again escaping a word from my bruised lips. The pain was excruciating and I felt like giving birth to triplets at the same time. I jerked my leg a little; i was trying to see if I could stand up. I rolled my back on the red soil and i was slapping my stomach against the sturdy short grasses and it prickled my chest. I began to creep using my buttocks to push myself through the bushes covering my view. A green frog jumped on my face and I quickly changed position. This time my body was facing upward. I grabbed a long tiny branch. I squeezed my palm against it and I watch uneasily as blood flowed down from my palm down to my shoulder. I pulled myself up, grunting in dissatisfaction. The rain was still heavy hitting against the surface of the heavy green leaves.
My foot sunk deep into the wet soil when I pulled myself up. A tall fleshy forage brushed across my cheek and I hopped few steps forward.I couldn't help but notice tiny chirps of falcon and the bulging sound of hopping frogs and crickets circumventing the windy rain driblets. I waited patiently to see if there was someone coming my way. I squinted my eyes while i was trying to find any hint of them approaching.
