Fishless Sea
Imagine a fishless sea
It's quite a sad place to be
All plastic, no fish
And it's everyone's wish
To know how they used to be
Plastic
Desolate ocean
More barren than a desert
All plastic, no fish
Think of the People
If you don't think of the fish
Think of the fishermen
Of the chefs
Of the marine biologists
Who would lose their jobs
With plastic oceans
If you don't think of the fish
Think of the children
Aspiring to be
Fishermen
Chefs
Marine biologists
Who will lose their dreams
With plastic oceans
If you don't think of the fish
Think of the fisheries
Of the sushi restaurants
Of the aquariums
That will have to close down
With plastic oceans
If you don't think of the fish
Think of the people
Who will be affected
By plastic oceans
We Can Change
Before the smartphone we used flip phones
Before flip phones we used landlines
Before landlines we used telegraphs
Before telegraphs we wrote letters
Before letters we spoke face to face
Before speaking we used body language
There's always a new way to do something
We just have to find it
Just because we use plastic so often
Doesn't mean we can't use something else
Think
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is over twice the size of Texas
Texas is 268,597 square miles
A square mile is one 300th of New York City
Think about the size
Of that group
Of floating
Garbage
Remember The Animals
Remember the turtles
Who ate plastic bags
Thinking they were jellyfish
Remember the birds
Who were poisoned
By eating fish
Swimming in chemical-filled water
Remember the fish
Choked by can-holders
Remember the animals
Who have suffered
Because of humans
