Flashback
"Kookie ~ let's go over there."
The playground's busy with children laughing, running, and playing. There are smiles on their faces as waves of laughter fill the air.
Kira's calling him, expecting him to come to her. He's looking at her too, left in a debate.
"Aumm." His breath stalls, clearly unable to decipher the situation. You're there swinging and Kira's over there in the yellow seesaw trying to get him to follow her to the slide.
In a rather hesitant way, he bounces his eyes back and forth towards you and the girl pouting on the other side.
He doesn't want to hurt her feelings by turning her offer down, but he can't leave you to play on your own either. Also, someone's keeping you busy and it's a boy. At the sight of the kid, Jungkook recalls what his mother had told him.
'Always take care of Y/n. Don't let any boy near her. You got it, sweetie?' Those were her exact words and he's kept it in his heart ever since.
"Kookie!" Kira calls for the second time, gesturing for him to come over quickly. When he doesn't budge, she edges closer to him and grabs his arm. She's trying to pull him back to the direction of the seesaw.
It's you or Kira.
Obviously, the swing looks more fun than the seesaw. So that's what he goes with.
"Let's go on the swing instead mhh?" Little Jung kook says instead, subtly pulling away from Kira's grasping hands before running up to you with a wide grin on his face. "Don't play without me Y/n!"
The End Of Flashback
Sunrise came and Mr Jeon kisses his wife on the cheek before leaving. Having nothing to do, she goes to the kitchen and makes breakfasts. Bacon and eggs and waffles for her baby. Who still isn't home.
A couple of hours goes by and now Mrs Jeon's casually sitting on a rocking chair while flipping through a baby magazine. As she schemes through each page, she remembers what Jungkook was like when he was a baby. He was adorable and so big. Maybe it was because she had him at such a young age. But even that didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams.
She checks her watch and wonders why her baby still isn't home. He should be here by now. The front door's open.
As if on cue, she hears the door open. The boy goes straight to the kitchen, unaware of her gaze.
It looks like he's had a good night worth of sleep.
She frowns, a little pained that she wasn't noticed but it's fine. Nothing a little ice cream can't fix. She picks up her phone and calls her husband.
"Hey, hon I'm a little busy right now-"
"I need ice cream."
There's a long pause as she hears him excuse himself from what she assumes was a meeting. "Ice cream? I refilled the fridge last nigh-"
"I want the wasabi flavor." She cuts him off while peeking through the curtains of the window. "But I want it a pink color."
"Where am I-" He sighs. "Wasabi. Pink. Got it. I'll have someone deliver it soon."
"Thanks, love."
"I love you."
She hums and ends the call with a smile.
Meanwhile back at your place, your mother's picking an outfit for tonight's dinner. She's going through her closet pulling clothes after clothes and asking for your opinion.
Bad idea.
"How about this one?" She picks a red dress and stamps it to her body, showing you. You're on the bed wondering why you're helping her in the first place. You're the last person on earth she should be asking fashion advice from.
But then again, how hard can it be to pick out an outfit? If it looks good on a person, then that's the one.
However, after going through countless clothes, you understand why it's always tough deciding. Mom looks great in everything. And that makes it hard to pick.
You gave up choosing from six eligible great outfits and left the room for her to decide on her own.
You won't let her headache rub off on you. Even if it already has. And besides, you need to prepare yourself too.
After taking a shower, you throw on a blue navy shirt and a white tennis skirt. This should keep Mrs Jeon from lecturing you today.
There's a knock on the door as you're arranging the clips on your hair.
"Honey." Your mom calls out from the other side. "Your dad and I are heading out first."
Your face snaps up in realization. If they go, then does it mean you can stay?
You rush to the door and find your mother looking so effortlessly gorgeous. "Can I stay then?"
That ounce of hope you had there gets crushed.
"You know you can't do that sweetie."She reaches a hand forward and gently bring your hair to the front.
"Then you can't leave me. How else am I suppose to get there?"
She smiles. "You're riding with Jungkook."
And that's how you found yourself riding with him. Jungkook's sporting a black jacket over his white shirt. His hair's ruffled and messy but in a delighting way. Silver envelopes his fingers and the cross chain on his neck dangles freely.
"Take a picture. It'll last longer." You mumble when you've had enough of him looking your way.
"I can't help it. You're more uglier than you were yesterday."
"Are you indirectly saying that you're attracted to me, Jeon?"
"What? No." He defends, abruptly halting the car under a red light. "I hate you remember."
You roll your eyes, shifting to rest on your side with your back facing him. "Then hate me properly Jeon."
